My daughter had a biopsy today
my little girl had an odd mole form on her leg. It didn't look right and it just came out of nowhere.

I took her to the dermatologist today and even though she is a little gal (elementary school)...she let them excise it in the office rather than have to go to the hospital...she was so brave.

As a treat I got her the Molly movie at target and she is resting upstairs on the couch watching it.

So now...I am crossing my fingers and hoping it is just nothing..

2. thanks...
I am hoping it is an "ink spot" mole...

what triggered the biopsy was the jagged edges and the doctor didn't like the idea of saying it "was probably safe"...and he said it would be better to biopsy it there...or the hospital.

He figured she would have to be put under...but my brave gal actually let them numb it and cut it out in the office (I held her the entire time)...

for a mole on her arm. It turned out to be nothing and from what the dermatologist said, they usually are. His words: "for every 'bad one' we remove and check hundreds of harmless ones."
So that's encouraging-and I hope you get the same happy outcome we did.
I'll be sending positive energy and warm thoughts your way.
She sounds like one tough little customer to let them do all that. Sounds like she's earned some major indulgence today!
Hang in there mom.

23. description
it just a bit smaller in diameter than an eraser head.
It was dark brown to black, but instead of having a round shape, it had a jagged edge.
Flat on the skin though...

They think it is an "ink spot"...don't know the real term but the jagged edge and perhaps the coloring was what they were unsure about.

24. Again, not as a clinician...

I'm going to say if it IS anything "serious", it's still not going to be serious. In other words, you might hear "basal cell carcinoma" or "squamous cell carcinoma" and freak out because it's skin cancer, and it is, but it's really not that big of a deal. They take it off and that's the end of it - although she'll have to have a regular mole check for the rest of her life.

The only diagnoses you have to worry about are melanoma and lymphoma, and in my NON-CLINICAL opinion, I highly, highly doubt you're going to get either of those.

Best to you and the munchkin.

26. I had something exactly like that removed from my back
several years ago. I was concerned because as a young adult (and as an older one too, truth to tell) I had had several really nasty sunburns. But it turned out to be absolutely nothing. My doctor characterized it as a large piece of dandruff. Here's hoping the same for your little one.

30. Miz t. had a melanoma a few years ago.
I hope it's NOT that, but it's one of the easiest cancers to treat.

I had a little basal cell thingy on my eyelid.
Also very easy to treat.
Kinda like your daughter's mole. Just appeared one day.
Excised in the dermatologist's office and no problems.
All the best karma to both of you.

37. When my son was 6
he had a dark peculiar mole on his arm that the pediatrician thought was questionable. Of course I freaked, and fortunately the Dr. saw him in dermatology the next day, removed the offending spot and was very reassuring. Biopsy came back negative. THe dematologist said that skin cancer was extremely rare in small children.

Sending good thoughts your way anyway!
