transferring vinyl albums to Cds |
|
Does anyone own a console that you can burn vinyl albums onto cds? I can do it through my computer but I am looking for a more efficient way.
Thanks

1. Crosley has a unit to do that. Here's a link to one online store but |
|
it is also advertised in the latest Linens and Things Christmas flyer. http://www.chumbo.com/Info.aspx?id=365390

I want me one of those things! I've actually been wondering the same thing as the OP. I've got some vinyl albums that I would love to transfer to CDs (and then upload them onto my iPod). Thank you.

3. You're welcome. I want one of them, too, but it will have to wait a while longer. |

I just called them and the only one they have that burns to CDs is the CR248 and they are backordered until next year!

4. I have a setup using an old-school stereo system. |
|
Radio Shack sells converter plugs for about six bucks that turn 2 RCA jacks into one 1/8 inch stereo plug. You use one to connect your sound card's line-out to the tape deck input jacks of your amplifier/receiver. Then use another one to connect the tape outputs of your amplifier/receiver to the line-in of your sound card. Voila! Your PC is now a tape deck. Enjoy playing your MP3's with the big speakers.
Finally, use your favorite sound recording software to record in real time while you play your LP's. The quality of the finished product will depend on the quality of your turntable, the cartridge/stylus, and your PC's sound card. Thankfully, the existence of hip hop DJ's means that this otherwise obsolete technology has continued to advance. Likewise, you can get a damn good sound card for relatively little money.

5. That is what I do now but |
|
the quality isn't good. My turntable is old, maybe it is that. Also it only comes out of one speaker. Thanks for the info!

19. I found another one on radioshack |

called audio technica LP, but I think it might be kind of cheesy. Have you heard of that one?
PS Did you see Gore is in GQ this month? He is still saying he won't run though.

Hoping to find a copy from a friend. I think he's goig to hold out as long as possible.
From what I remember about the thread, the Numark was the best, and/or the one the OP was going to get.

14. Interesting! I don't get how these work-- do they plug into your computer |
|
somehow to record? If so--whhat do you need on your computer in order to do the recording? Please tell me more!
A couple years back I looked into getting recording software but since I have windows 98 it seemed nothing wouldve worked.

15. I don't have one, yet |
|
It plugs into the USB port on your computer and comes with software to do the recording. If you still have Win98 you may have problems.

18. Not sure if they are still on the market |
|
But I bought an audio cd player and recorder in 2000. Hooks right into your stereo.
You have to buy CD's that have the CD-audio label, and they cost a little more, because part of the cost is a copyright fee for re-recording your music.
The other drawback is that when recording from vinyl, you have to sit in front of the unit, and push a button to mark a new track, because there is too much noise from your old analog turntable for the CD recorder to do it automatically.
But the sound quality is much better than CD's my wife has made from downloaded MP3's.
Hope that helps. Off to the big box electronics retailer for you!
