Just got the annual, here's a token gift that you can select from sheet at work. There were two choices, either a 25 dollar wal-mart gift cert or a 25 dollar donation to the food bank. I decided on the food bank option. Anyways, just got an email that everyone needs to identify themselves to HR if they selected to receive the gift cert so it can be added to their wages and taxed appropriately. Merry fricking X-mas everybody!
Now if they had given us gift certs for food, like a turkey or something, it wouldn't have been taxed. But now just about everyone will go for the donation route, which is good, but that also gives the company another tax write off.

or anything, just a gut feeling I have. The same gut feeling that got me out of my previous office just a few short weeks before they whacked the entire building.
