Edited on Wed Nov-29-06 06:40 PM by Blue-Jay
EDIT: He was an American Idol finalist, and sings pop pablum. Good voice, though. Also, he's not "out" yet.

4. I think he was veering toward the Country genre when he left
American Idol.

Personally, I really, really like his Christmas album. His voice was made for some of those songs.

How exciting for you, GoG!!! Be sure to keep us updated.

I'm surprised they didn't hire the Virginia Beach Pops to play in Norfolk. Anyway, it's union, and on the up-and-up, so I don't mind a little drive.

Funny...Now that you mention it, I can't recall playing for anyone who wasn't wholesome...
Sarah Brightman was kind of weird, and anorexic; but not trashy or anything.

11. playing for a performance?
My niece had such a crush on Clay. And he really influenced her with his interest in special ed kids -- he has a nonprofit foundation to provide services to kids in many cities. He was also the spokesperson for UNICEF. I think he's a naturally good person.

21. That's good to know...
...especially if he's not pushing Jesus on people while he helps them.

I played for some X-tian "rock" guy the other day, and he made a spiel for some "save the children" type of organization, which would bring food, medical attention, and "most important, the gospel" to children in third world countries. I felt my cheeks turn red when he said that. :puke:

36. no, no
Clay's not an overt evangelical or anything like that. His foundation simply raises money for special needs children and gives grants to things like art programs for special ed classes. That kind of stuff. He was a special ed teacher, you know, and really has a heart for those kids. My niece is a young adult with a disability, and she admires him so much. She says "he changed my life."

I feel fortunate that I'll bring home a healthy paycheck for next week's work. I'm really not into the pop scene; but I can play like I am, when necessary. :D

We have to buy a new boiler in the next few days; so the money will be most welcome!

34. He has a gorgeous voice.
He's gotten way better since the Idol days. Fans have posted tons of stuff from his concerts on YouTube. He sings pop, classics, and standards and he has a mind-blowing voice. Works with David Foster these days. Think Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli. I believe he does Christmas concerts every December.

39. Beautiful voice.
He's from Raleigh so we hear about him ALL the time. He seems like a generally nice person, if a bit nerdy.
Lots of speculation that he's gay because he is a bit effeminate. Who knows?
His foundation is called the Bubel-Aiken foundation I think, the Bubel family has an autistic son that he has worked with.
He moved to Cali right after he got famous, hated it and moved back to Raleigh.
He is absolutely adored by the local crowd here.
His style is very traditional, almost broadway show tune type singing, or it was when he first got on Idol. I'm sure he could sing about anything -
except cookie monster heavy metal maybe....

53. Ironically enough
when she isn't going after him in her act, she has nothing but nice things to say about him. Says he's one of the few stars she skewers who has a sense of humor, gets what she's doing, and doesn't get bent out of shape over it.

In comparison, Ryan Seacrest insisted that she be fired from E! when he joined the channel. And she has been blacklisted from many talk shows because a lot of celebrities will not appear if she is on the show.

48. She's the co-host of Regis and Kelly.
She's so obnoxious. He was guest hosting in Regis' place. There was a celeb on they were interviewing and Kelly would not shut up (which is normal, I hear.) Apparently, he jokingly held his hand in front of her mouth and joked about getting a word in. Well, she got all fired up and pissed because basically, he shut her up. While the rest of the world sang "Hallelujah!" she went on and on about how dare he touch her, blah blah blah.

I'm no American Idol fan, and I never gave one wit about Aiken before, but when I heard about the Ripa things, I cracked up!
