So my 7 y/o believes in Santa. She makes her list and Santa and I "split it".
She asked for these Power Ranger SPD action figures. They are $30-50 EACH because they are now considered collectables. I told her that I looked for them and that they are ot available. Her response "Santa can make them".
She also asked for an XBOX. Now, I don't believe in video games, so I told her that we can't afford it because we are buying a new house. Her response "Santa can make it".
My only thought is to send her a letter from Santa explaining that the elves are done with the XBOX production and maybe next year.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks :)

1. I always told my children that their dad and I had to pay for the toys |
|
so there was always that to fall back on. We told them that Santa needed money to pay for toys that some kids' parents couldn't afford.

2. Have Santa write her a letter that Bush has ruined the economy, |
|
deported all his elfs, and that Homeland Security won't let him in the country.

3. You're doing it wrong. You're supposed to tell her what's on her list... |
|
and let her think she's thought of it herself. See, you buy stuff you have seen in the stores that you think she'll like, then you tell her it's really cool and she should put it on her list.
She puts it on her list and BAM, santa's a hero.
And 2007 will then be the year you spill the beans about Santa.

7. Yeah, been there, done that. All you can do is say that she can put stuff on the |
|
list, but that there are no promises that santa can deliver all that either, then change the subject... it's all you can do.
It's hard not to feel guilty about not giving Precious every item her heart desires, isn't it? Xmas is so darned commercialized, it's awful. The teevee is the WORST.
They get more realistic as they get older, luckily.
