RANT: If you drink coffee, tea, water, etc. everyday at work - BUY A CUP |
|
I see the same people drinking coffee everyday and instead of buying themselves a cup for daily use they continue to use the styrofoam coffee cups provided by the coffee machine.
Geez, what a waste - I mean we all know we're going to end up at work each day and we all know we're gonna want some coffee, tee or water or something like that while we're at work. Have a damn cup that you can reuse everyday.
:grr:

10. that's right, so they sit in the sink in the break room |
|
and grow nastier than nasty and then people had the nerve to steal my clean mug right off my desk! So I've begun to leave a little coffee in the bottom, knowing full well they are too lazy to wash it and that keeps them from stealing it.

21. My coworkers say they can't use the ceramic mugs because they "don't know who used it before" |
|
And I ask, "Do you have the same problem at restaurants?"
Then they tell me I'm right... and reach for the styrofoam again. I think the only way to make it stop is to convince the company to stop PROVIDING the styrofoam cups, and mine won't because the paper ones are more expensive!
Did I mention we have about 6 flat-screen TVs, a foosball table and a "virtual waterfall"?

13. I always worry what the tea is doing to my teeth if it leaves the cup so stained |
|
Even after going through the dishwasher my tea mug is stained. Couple weeks ago I filled it up with water and tossed in a couple denture cleaning tablets (I use them for my bite guard, ok? :P It cleaned the stain very nicely.

have to take it home once a week (no hot water in the county office where I work). Why we can't have hot water I'll never understand, if they wanted to save energy turn the damn ac up or down or whatever. I live in Florida and have to dress like an eskimo for work.

because I brought my own coffee mug. I do that all the time. And, no I didn't fill it up and it wasn't a jumbo one like the jerk at MrG's work who uses the whole pot to fill his 7-11 bucket o' caffeine. :hi:

She's the first one in to the office--makes a pot and then fills a thermos with the entire thing and drinks from the thermos next to her computer all day long. Does she make a second pot for the other folks who come in shortly after?...what do you think?

What are you guys, a bunch of freeloaders?
I don't come into the office early for the benefit of others, but I still get stuck with a bunch of chores for those lazy shits.

6. our company cafeteria sold us humongo thermal travel jugs |
|
for cold drinks, discontinued the 32 oz styrofoam cups and offered refills on the big jug for a reduced price to cut down on the disposable cup issue. I told the cafeteria guy we need to do a hot cup for the coffee too.. Of course the coffee cups in the cafeteria are at least paper (starbucks cups) so they are actually biodegradable not styrofoam.
When we bought the jug, the price included the first beverage purchase. Refills are $1 .. beverages in the 32 oz cups were like $1.49 so the cup paid for itself quite quickly. And it is a very nice jug.
We are supposed to always have lids on our cups at the desk too. I prefer ceramic cups which don't usually have lids.

7. At my old old job (the one before this most recent old job), I always |
|
had two or more cups/mugs/etc. in my desk. If I used one, I took it home that evening and ran it through the dishwasher. I took a clean one back the next morning to replace it. I always had at least ONE clean cup to use. I guess I'm just a freak, but I can't STAND to drink out of a cup I know is dirty. However, I am also not one to use styrofoam/paper cups unless I HAVE to. That stash of cups kept me happy. :) I am also going to do this when I start my new job Monday. (Working at home over the past year, I got to use my clean cups as much as I wanted. :P)

16. This is how you get people to wash their cups |
|
We had that problem too; this is a radio station so we have people here 24-7 and had a bad problem with some weekenders leaving dirty cups in the sink to be discovered Monday morning. Our music director would wash them and put them back in everyone's mailbox but I told her to quit doing that and sent an announcement that I was going to keep every cup I had to wash. I was assured by nearly everyone that they weren't the culprits; they always washed their cups, etc. but in the first two weeks I collected twenty cups which I locked in my office. After the weekenders discovered there were no more cups in the kitchen or that they could 'borrow' from other people's mailboxes they began using the styrofoam cups. So, I took those out too and the one weekend nobody could have coffee at all.
Radio stations run on caffeinated coffee. Right after that I was visited by a steady stream of people coming to claim their cups and we haven't had a problem since.

22. Damned right - it's that kind of asshole earth-killing selfishness that pisses me off. |
|
Like we don't do enough in this country to piss the rest of the world off already.
BUY A GODDAMN MUG YOU ASSHOLES!!
and p.s. to the super-selfish fuckwipes: even if you think you have a god-given right to destroy the earth and waste as much as possible, at least consider the reality that putting hot beverages in styrofoam actually creates toxins in the liquid.

23. Our office has a plentiful supply of cups... |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-30-06 07:04 PM by youthere
there is no plastic styrofoam or paper cups to be found anywhere. Either the office admin staff or the college intern take turns washing them...but then we only have an office staff of 12, of which there might be 4 people there on a super busy day. Even when we have a meeting with someone at the office, we provide our guest coffee in an actual mug. We also use cloth napkins in our office. We do use paper towels, but sparingly.
