It is a nice 40 degrees in Houston, and I like it. |
|
I will take this weather over our hot, humid summer weather any day.
Getting ready to take the dog for walk in the woods, she is getting excited about going.
I can take out my pull over sweater, the weather has to be at least 45 to wear it.
I like winter.

1. I hate winter, but that's mostly because |
|
the springs, summers, and autumns here in West Virginia are always so mild and comfortable. I hate winter--I can't stand the greyness, the eternal mud, the weak, watered-down sunlight, or the dead-looking trees. The cold alone would be bearable, if not for all the other nastiness that comes with it.

I wish our summers were mild, our summers kill people.
We get so few cold fronts here, that we really don't have winter season.
All we get is about 6 months of summer, then fall, winter, and spring all run together.
We will get into the 30's for the next few nights, but that might take care of the bugs.

I feel lucky, then. I think our summer-temp average is somewhere around 83. Spring and Fall averages are around 50, and winter is around 35. We do occasionally get the extreme highs and lows, but they're rare. We get more rain than snow in the winter--my partner (who is from North Carolina) says we only have two seasons here--Mud and Not-Mud. *laughs*

I'm sitting here with the windows open enjoying the nice, cool weather.
What a refreshing change from the warm, muggy weather of the past few, uh, months!
It's a great day for a walk!

5. I am looking forward to the next few days. |
|
I can get out my winter gear, use the wood burning stove, and cook on it like my grandmother did.
I am making bean soup, but it really needs to cook all day on a wood burning stove.
Our winters are so short, and summers so damn long.:hi:

8. The two dogs here are so ready to go. |
|
The woods are very nice in the winter, no bugs, the trail opens up.
No wind, just some cool air and watching the dogs run and play.
The last few days were so humid here, I put on the AC because I was working in the back room.
We will have winter for the next few weeks anyway.:hi:

12. The woods are really nice, |
|
The funny thing about the woods is that it is a well kept secret.
The woods are so nice, a variety of trees, wildlife, and birds.
The railroad owned and the but sold it, we don't know how long we can have it but it is so nice to walk there.
The dogs love it, they can run loose and enjoy being a dog.
My little neighborhood had a lot of open green space, a great place to grow up.
Now hundreds of townhouses are going to built in the railroad yard, I hope the new homeowners know how loud it is with the trains. I don't think so.
The woods are a special place.

9. Ahhh, Texas weather...How I miss it! |
|
When I left my house this morning, it was 6 degrees here...about ten minutes ago, we were uo to 16! Of course, the wind chill this morning was 3 below zero. For the record, I do not miss Texas summers!

10. We have terrible summers here. |
|
People die here from lack of AC, and the new homes are not built for opening windows.
We were without AC for a few days but the old house was built in 1930 so with a window fan going we did OK.
I can tolerate heat I just don't like it.
