Poll question: Have you ever posted something you wish you'd never said?
Edited on Thu Nov-30-06 01:21 PM by Tyler Durden
Yes, I have posted in haste only to repent at leisure. The sad thing is, I was angry and it was really sincerely meant, but many others have found it uproariously funny and keep dredging it up, much to my embarrassment, and as a marginal social phobic I can only say: ow.

I've kept many things to myself since then; replies to comments, "join in the fun" threads that might make someone embarrassed like I am, even strong opinions that may offend.

And by the way, YES I HAVE taken the joke way too far on occasion; perhaps this is my penance. I'm sorry.

2. Hey, Tyler!
We love you!:hi: If I'd been the one to do that "Call congress right fucking now" thread, I'd be basking in the glory of my fame, no matter what my intentions at that moment.

Anyway, we love you.

4. Social Embarrassment Phobia.
Every time I see that line, I get red, sweaty and queasy.

I cannot explain this behavior: call it "fear of being a jerk."

The original was dumb. I just wish it'd go away.

Thanks for the thought though. I love you too, in a DU way of course.

11. I cringe at a few things I've said, but this one is the topper.
I can't even remember why I said it. I've had to put it that far out of my head.

14. Just FYI I never saw what you are cringing about
I just know about that yucky feeling after pouring my heart out and being left feeling like a vulnerable blushing kid.

16. BROTHER!
I never heard it put so well. You feel like that kid in your 7th grade class who the meanest teacher in school grabbed their face and squeezed in their cheeks then got right in their face to rant at them.

Ok, it was me.

12. OMG!!
Are you fucking KIDDING me?

HELL yes, and I hurt someone I deeply cared about and I can do absolutely NOTHING to fix it. I'm a horrible person sometimes.

Fuck, I'm going to cry if I keep thinking about it....

Live and learn...

13. My darling wife is helping me with that.
High I.Q., large vocabulary, and wide educational experience are nasty weapons sometimes. I regret strongly haveing used them as such. I've done it too often.

Deborah is helping with that, as she can scream her head off at me, and be fine 30 minutes later. GOD I envy that of her. I remember things I wish I hadn't said when I was FIVE that still embarrass me.

15. i'm sure i have
i don't recall any one in particular at the moment or i'd give you examples.

i've said things in 'real' life that i wish i hadn't so why shouldn't the same hold true for DU.

20. It's not what's said: it's the constant reminder.
Think of it this way: you voice an opinion in a way everyone else thinks is terribly funny. Problem is, you meant it strongly at the time.

Now everyone you know occasionally says, "HEY, remember when you said ..........???!?" And then the whole group gets a big laugh out of it, while you search for a rock big enough to crawl under.

24. I never thought it was...I usually think the best of people (one of my faults).
I just find it insensitive, like someone who insists on posting recipes for preparing cats just because they don't like cats.

Think of it like flashing a giant picture of a messy operation to someone who can't stand blood.

18. Just wish everyone would forget one in particular.
And I do this at work, so I can't always get in under the "edit" limit.

Oh well.

rather quickly, otherwise the edit time runs out!

21. That was you? Oh.

At least the place is anonymous. Unless you are using your real name. In which case you could tell everybody you're not, and no one would be the wiser.

:hi:
