And who let that gull in there?

2. Baltimore, at the Maryland Zoo...
:D

My son took me to see Happy Feet yesterday; so it's all about penguins here for the next week or so.

3. Very neat - all those penguins grouped around the trainer reminds
me of a time, years ago, when I was sitting by one of the lakes in Golden Gate Park. All of a sudden, I noticed that hundreds of seagulls were gathering, and all heading (mostly on foot) in the same direction. It turned out that a guy had brought a huge garbage bag of fish parts, and had collected this immense congregation of gulls waiting for handouts. Kind of a trippy scene, really, to see him leaning against a tree with a 30 foot circle of gulls at his feet...

4. That must have been a sight!
Once, after having a picnic at Assateague Island, I decided to offer our leftover stale bread crusts to the gulls. The next thing I knew, we were bombarded by PONIES who wanted a piece of the action. We were kind of freaked, so we got into the car. The ponies surrounded the car, and one of them scraped his teeth over the hood. They backed off when we started the engine.

We learned our lesson that day...
