My fave movie of this year - "In America" |
|
Just got home and have to rave. It is so wonderful, really a treat. I really like big splashy epics, but this "little" movie was truly the best I've seen this year.
All of you must go see it. That's an order.

3. Nobody you've ever heard of probably. . |

- the family in the center of it is Irish, and it's Irish actors. It was co-written and directed by Jim Sheridan who did "My Left Foot" and "In The Name of The Father". It's a semi-autobiographicals story of when he came to NYC with his wife and two little girls. There aren't big fight scenes or car chases and nary an Ork - it's just so incredibly real and human and touching.
Ah, crap, I'm tearing up just remembering it.

4. I'll check it out if it comes to town, but it probably won't |

The movie theaters here really suck. But they're building a new one to open next year that sounds like will be really great. Unfotunately it's being built by some rich wingnut. Decisions, decisions...
