Meet the AKC National Champion for 2006

English Springer Spaniel.

The dog is GORGEOUS.

I think I heard them say last night that this is the first time in the history of the National Championships that a dog from the sporting group had taken the title.

1. Gorgeous indeed
but I wish we could end the bobbing of tails (on all breeds).

2. Corgi should have won it
however I may be a bit bias. Ha. I also wish we would allow the Pembroke Corgi to grow their tail.

Westminster, I believe takes place in Jan or Feb. Lets see who wins there.

4. CORGIS! CORGIS! RAH, RAH RAH!
Was that Pem Tri CUTE or WHAT?

Built exactly like my newest, "Vinnie," or as we call him Vinnicus Retardus Maximus. Real name on the papers: Vincenzo Lavasore, or "Vinnie the Dodger."

Not as smart as Charlie or Brigette, but what a cutie! All ours are Red/Whites.

5. That is my next Corgi
I would love a tri female. The Corgi in my picture AKC name is Bear Baron Boo. Ah, no ..we don't plan to show him.. Ha. He can be a butt head but we love him.

6. Ours: will post you pics, but here are the names:
Rhapsody in Red (Charlie). Smart, soulful. Big and strong. GENTLE.

Red Alert (Brigette). BEAUTIFUL. Typical Corg Alpha Female. Don't FUCK with me, Boys. (fixed: walleyed and a congenital coat defect; no guard coat. She is the working definition of SOFT.)

Vincenzo Lavasore (Vinnie). Or Schmeckle. Or Shitstain. Pretty Boy, but only 6 months. I hope to Hell he gets SMARTER. Has EATEN broken glass and at least 3 lights off the tree. HUGE vet bill.

Sneezer is NOT a Corg but is built just like a short snouted, small faced fluffy with drop ears and a tail. The SMARTEST dog I've ever had the pleasure to know. Deaf now, but does that slow him down? NOPE.

4 cats. Brigey does NOT allow them on the first floor, but they don't care. The view's better anyway.

8. Did the corgi win best in Group? I thought the German Shepherd took that
Of the 7 that went to Best in Show, my fav was the PBGV

This is not the one in last night's show (when I tried to enlarge the pic from the AKC website, it got all blurry).

That would be a very unhappy dog working in California. I'm just saying...

9. I was really rooting for the PBGV, although before the
final round, I was all about the Old English Sheepdog and the Briard!

10. I can't watch the AKC dog shows anymore...
Edited on Mon Dec-04-06 07:22 PM by Zookeeper
now that I have a Rat Terrier, a breed that is snubbed by the AKC even though it is acknowledged by the British equivalent.

Not that my Pearl would win any awards anyway...

On edit: Yikes! That was a gigantic picture. I'll try again.

14. Yup. They're still rather anti-border collie, too.
They finally relented and gave them AKC recognition, but I've never seen one win best of group or best of show. :-(
