Who here has heard of a Juicy (or Jucy) Lucy? |
|
I am wondering if they are just a Minnesota thing.

14. Juicy Lucys are burgers |
|
you make two thin hamburger patties and sandwich cheese between the two thin patties, then grill.
So when you bite into the burger, melted cheese oozes out. They are DELICIOUS.
You can use whatever cheese you like, we only had American on hand tonight, so that is what I used.

23. American melts the best. |

If you want the cheese really oozy and melty, you have to use American.

|
Or, if you're a St. Paul peep like me, to the Groveland Tap.

6. OMG, Kitchen Witch, you brought back memories of an old friend |
|
with this post.
I had (still have, I guess) a friend in college named Lucy and she used to do Tahitian dancing. Anyway one day in December, 1974, she announced to all of us lounging around the table in the Union that she had a gig on Saturday night and would any of us be interested in coming out to see her dance.
One of the guys I hung around with was a VietNam vet and a total wild man. He decided that he was going to organize a "field trip" for us to go see Lucy dance. We had a gas, it was at this Chinese restaurant out in Tinley Park, IL and the wild man got loaded drunk. He nicknamed Lucy that night "Juicy Lucy, the Tahitian Treat" and the name stuck.
Lucy was/is a great friend. I'll have to try and get in touch with her and find out how she's doing. Good Lord, we had some good times together...

|
I had one once. It was served so hot. Dripping with goodness. Icy cold beer.
Wow.
