SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- The thought of Britney Spears without panties seems to have sent a lot of people to the Internet to look for the photos.

Spears tops the list of the top Internet searches on Yahoo this year. It's the fifth time she's topped the list in the past six years. She was briefly "dethroned" in 2004 by Paris Hilton.

She beats out WWE wresting, which is second, and Shakira at third.

Spears also tops the list of most-searched-for celebrities on Yahoo. Her first husband, Jason Alexander, also was the top "mover" search of November. "Movers" are search topics that suddenly see a huge jump in searches but then go away just as quickly. Search for Alexander may have been sparked by reports that he's writing a tell-all book about his marriage to Spears.

As for news stories, the death of Steve Irwin, the death of Anna Nicole Smith's son and the war in Iraq were the top Yahoo searches.

Spears also topped Google's list of popular searches for the week of Dec. 2.

All adult-themed searches are filtered out of the "most-searched" list.
