1. I'm jealous
I can't stand that sellout's shit anymore. He should have quit after Blind Faith; that was the last bit of good he ever recorded.

8. It's kind of a dumb commercial, with Eric (or "Wanker") sitting on a comfy chair,
talking about the musicians he used to listen to as a kid and with his friends - some real giants of the blues and whatnot. I've seen the commerical a bunch of times, but I have no idea what the hell it's for - I think maybe a TV show, or perhaps a CD collection of Clapton music (but I don't so - I don't think the stuff being advertised is actually related to Clapton at all, it seems that it's either something having to do with The Blues, or maybe about kids growing up to fulfill their dreams and talking about their heroes, or something. I just don't know.)

It's kind of frickin' dumb, anyway.

He gives off a list of greats and says how inspired he was by them, and all I can think is, "It sure doesn't show in your playing, you wanker".

9. I don't know who the ad is for either.
It's really pathetic isn't it? I feel like Clapton has really let me down... really sold out.

I hate the ad, but now I'll have to watch it again to find out who it's for.

Damn you.

13. OK. It's for Rhapsody.

With the required plug for his album with JJCale.

Which interests me not at all.

14. Ah, that's it! Yes, Rhapsody. Whoopty fucking doo.
Hey, Clapton - you don't see Page or Beck (the real Beck, not the jackoff usurper) doing commercials, you wanker.

I now have to look at you in a whole new light.

Now go play your guitar.

20. Thanks!
Big fan of Beck - the real one - here, ever since the Yardbirds (though I'm not old enough to have listened to Yardbirds when they were around - I got into them in the early 80s because of Led Zeppelin; though I had bought the Jeff Beck/Jan Hammer album before I even really knew who Jeff Beck was, and loved that album to death).

Never cared for him much before that; wouldn't cross the street to piss on him if he were on fire now.

6. You make the mistake of assuming that advertisers are not aware of DVRs
I own a Replay box. Replay was a competitor to Tivo. They actually made a better box IMO. More features. Things like automatically skipping ads. The ability to email recorded shows. They got sued into oblivion. I managed to get one of the last models that had the naughty features on them.

Advertisers know about DVRs. And they are working on ways to get around them. Advertisers will not be satisfied until they can spray paint adds onto our eyeballs.

Did you hear about the recent flap about them trying to put oder based advertisement on various billboards in closed areas without permission? Yeah. They will find a way into your space. Just give them time.

7. Oh, I know they'll find their way to overcome it
But not for another year, anyway! So I can enjoy my DVR.

I can't wait!

11. They already came up with a way to overcome the fast forward
They are running ads with static screens that don't change. So even if you fastforward through them the image still comes through.

Ad is for Rhapsody, by the way.

16. Disc brake squeel is more emotionally compelling to me than Clapton.

Peach pits in a garbage disposal is more emotionally compelling than Clapton's playing.

Ah jes don' get it.

17. I've actually detuned my brakes, just in case Clapton ever comes on the radio
so I can have something better to listen to.

"Peach pits in a garbage disposal more emotionally compelling" <-- Brilliant! And so true!

The dude certainly has some tgood technical command of his guitar, but he is utterly devoid of soul.
