Poll question: Connecticut DUers?
Edited on Wed Dec-31-03 02:39 PM by populistmom
Looks like we've got some ideas going, so now for the poll. We can keep it going for a few days and whatever wins by Saturday, we can try to do. :)

6. Cool!
I still hope so, as otherwise there may be only 4 or 5 of us. Fun, but you know, the more the merrier. :)

5. I can be there on Saturday but I have to be back by 6:30pm
and I live a little under an hour away so I would have to leave by 5:30. If its too late in the afternoon I wouldn't be able to come.

7. I was hoping 4:00 could be okay
I'm personally very open that day (so was Amaya), but I remember NightTrain said he had to work. If he's around maybe you guys can come up with a good happy medium.

11. Sounds okay to me
No problem here anyway.

Sarah, who's trying to use my organization skills without appearing too control freakish about anything because I'm not, not usually anyway :)

10. You could always arrange another one
We've got a few of us around Hartford, one SE CT, and some Mass folks coming. Have a Fairfield County one and you'd probably get the rest of us CT folks plus perhaps some NYC people.

23. You mean that spit of land
that's keeping Connecticut from having all those nice beaches? Then again, Long Island acts to break the force of hurricanes from the south.

(I'm a displaced Fairfield County native.)

20. It looks like this is evolving into...
Saturday the 17th, Black Eyed Sally's in Hartford, but more like 2:00pm instead of later afternoon.

Do we want to stick with this? Do I hear an amen brothers and sisters?

25. Black Sally's doesn't open until 5:00 on Saturdays
We need to find an alternative if we are doing it at 2:00pm.

26. How about the Triple A Diner on Main Street in East Hartford?

It's right near the intersection with Burnside Avenue.

28. You're in the right vicinity!

If you're coming from Boston, your best bet is to take I-84 into East Hartford and get off at Exit 58 (Roberts Street). Go left off the ramp. When Roberts Street ends (Pratt & Whitney is directly across from it), turn right onto Silver Lane. When Silver Lane ends, turn right onto Main Street. The Triple A Diner is a mile or so down on the left, right past the Burnside Avenue intersection (which will be on your right).

That's assuming, of course, that we actually decide to meet at the Triple A!

30. Is this place better than it used to be?
Last I knew, it was a dive, but that was a number of years ago. I did go by there recently and I noticed it looked better, so maybe there's been improvements? What's it like now?
I'm up for most anything, and it's really close and convenient for me.

I thought about Hartford or West Hartford, as they are more central, but I guess this is too. I tend to know more about places in Manchester, South Windsor, or Vernon (which aren't so central), so if this place is good, it's fine with me.
