Need a gift for a stranger |
|
There's a nice old guy (80+) who hangs out at my train station. He drives up every day to get a free newspaper, then hangs out and watches people get on and off the trains.
Well, one night he was at a Dem Committee meeting, and I got to talking to him about the history of the area, and he turned out to be a really interesting guy. After that, we waved and chatted. This summer, he brought me some fresh tomatoes from his garden, and this morning, he had a little pack of pizelles that he had baked himself!
I don't know his last name and don't know his address, but I would LOVE to give him a little something for Christmas. The obvious solution is baked goods, but I don't bake (my oven is broken and is used for storing cat food). The only craft I do is jewelry, and I doesn't seem the earring type.
Any other ideas?

You know that they sell in the middle of the mall. Or at the grocery store all ready made up? Sometimes they have tins of Christmas cookies or something.
I struggle every year what to give the bus drivers that take my children to and from school every day. arg

or even cheese.
Or take a really, really big soup mug and fill it full of different candies and wrap it in colored cellophane.
Or, maybe, since you know he's a Dem, a couple of left-leaning books.

3. Thanks for the suggestions |

I think he's a Dem, but there is the slim possibility that he was just at the party (it was a party, not a meeting as I previously said) for the free snacks.
He seems really poor, but it's hard to tell with guys from that generation - many of them are just really frugal.
A cheese basket might be the answer

4. You could make him a tie pin. |
|
A gift card in any denomination for a general store or drugstore might be useful as well.
