My Dad was doing working on a renovation of one of the hallways in our house when he made an interesting discovery. After prying away some of the wainscotting, he found seven old elementary English textbooks wedged in a little compartment in the frame! Now, I know that our house used to be a schoolhouse from the early 1900's until the Elementary School was built in Coleman in the mid 60s. The bathrooms in our house were put in during the early 50s, according to thr previous owner, who had converted the schoolhouse into a home in the mid 70s. These textbooks we found had copyright dates ranging form 1942 to 1947. Isn't that neat? Now i don't know what to do. I'm thinking about bringing this to the attention of the history prof at UW-Marinette or something.

My grandfather was a high school teacher in the 1920s and 1930s, and he taught a lot of different subjects. After he died, we found textbooks in algebra, geometry, French, Latin, and pyschology.
The psychology textbooks were an eye-opener. In the discussion of intelligence, it listed the various social and ethnic groups in the alleged order of their brainpower. I'm sure you'd never guess that the brightest children were supposedly the children of business executives of English or Scottish descent. It was also unsurprising, given the times, to see African-Americans listed at the bottom.
But here's something that would shock the proponents of The Bell Curve: Jews and Asians were also near the bottom.
So either Jews and Asians improved their genetic makeup in sixty years, or The Bell Curve is racist garbage.
Now which could it be?
