A quick Circuit City rant....
The whole "buy it online and pick it up at the store" notion is almost useless.

I generally avoid Circuit City, as you have to stand in line to pay for something, then AGAIN to pick it up. The web site (misleadingly) tells you that you can buy something online and then pop into the store of your choice to pick it up. NOT SO!!!!! You still have to stand in the cashier line, then move on to the pick-up line. So what's the point of even ordering it online? What bothers me more, is why do they make me enter a credit card number online if they're going to run it at the time of pick up? Seems to me that this offers twice the chance of the theft of my credit card number.

Guess I'll try Best Buy now.....

2. I'm worried about that....
The reason I did the online Circuit City thing was that nobody else had what I was looking for. It wasn't even anything new or unusual...

17. Have you tried
J&R Electronics or B&H Photo?

They've got great prices and ship really quickly. I've bought my last two cameras from them.

3. Or anything in the ad (although Fry's is worse about that.) Or trained staff.
I used to work for them. They don't pay for shit and don't bother to train people because the staff turnover is so high, so their fuckwit/non-fuckwit ratio is much higher than Circuit City, in my experience.

If Circuit City is still operating their mall-based stores and has one in your area, they don't have the pick up line nonsense. They don't have the full assortment of stuff either, but life is full of tradeoffs.

5. They only have the one in Baton Rouge...
And it's chock full of fuckwits.

But, having worked retail before, I can't make myself tear into the employees. Chances are, there are far more fuckwits higher up the chain.

By the way- thanks for reminding me of that colorful word! :yourock:

6. BestBuy = sensoral assault for me
I dunno if sensoral is a word, nope Firefox is telling me no, but anyway.. Walking into a BestBuy does things to me, unpleasant things, and I want to get out of there as soon as possible. It's the antithesis of fun, relaxed shopping for me.

4. NOOOO!
Bestbuy enforces a 14 day from date of purchase return policy. Not 14 days after being gifted.

With a policy like that this time of year.

15. Hmmm
This has been changed recently. A thread in November pointed at the same policy and this was not posted.

Thanks for the update.

To be fair, I think the policy was changes after and outcry from customers.

10. Circuit City = Masters of Bait and Switch
every single time i've gone in there because of a fabulous advertised price, they've never had the item but are more than happy to try to sell me something else.

I've never had that problem at Best Buy.

12. I've had that at HH Gregg
The only problem I'm have at our best buy is that the workers are not well trained on the products they are selling.
