Lake Powell, Sedona visit |
|
Just returned from a two week vacation, without internet or news. (caveat: As an environmentalist, I had initial misgivings about supporting this Glen Canyon, Lake Powell vacation destination)
Fourteen family and friends on a 59' ft houseboat on Lake Powell. Undescribable canyon beauty, fantastic water and ski boating fun. Our boat generator conked out for two nights, so I was forced to sleep on open top deck for cooler air. Bats constantly swooped inches away from our heads. Watching for, seeing falling stars, then making silent wishes. New mischiefs. Incredible, life changing, refreshing experience.
Sedona, AZ. Rigourous hiking with family member who pushed us further physically, then pushed more yet. Redrock beauty, shared with large hawks, hummingbirds, lizards, family of quails, and those small piglike animals. I was separated and somewhat lost on the mountain once. Abbeylike thoughts, hiking in this magical place.
Exhausted from long drive upon return. Drove through New Mexico and Texas on the way home, being blind to the political drama is going on there.
If you are able to, do yourself a favor and make a similar trip.

pesky critters? Sounds like they may be as common and annoying as the deer that eat my garden.
This was also my first kayaking attempt. Great, great fun.
Sore arm muscles.
