Bungling Button Dilemma
This is a biggie. This ranks right up there with the sky falling in.

You know those extra buttons that come with new clothes, usually attached by one of those annoying plastic thingies to the label card? Yeah, *those* buttons.

What in the world can one do to keep them organized?

If I just give up and throw them out when I cut them off, you *know* what will happen. The first time I wear the blasted garment, a button will pop off and go down the sewer, and there I'll be... either having to replace all the buttons or give up on the whole garment.

So, does anyone have a really good system for organizing these little round heachaches so that they are easily found if/when the need does arise? Tossing them in the sewing cabinet isn't working for me.

Please, if you can rescue me from this frightful dilemma, I shall have a bright 2004. :)

Thanks in advance. :)

Kanary, with buttons, buttons everywhere.....

1. how hard could it be to organize buttons?
Can't you just find a box or bag to put them in?

How many buttons are we talking about here?

2. The easiest way
is to sew the extra button onto the inside hem of the garment. That way you always know where it is and it is readily available when the inevitable happens and you lose one of the other buttons.

4. Brilliant!
That will work best of all, and no "filing" system.

Thanks!

5. Wear men's clothing
Most good men's shirts have those extra buttons already sewn into the bottom corner. I was about 25 before I figured out why that extra button was down there without a matching buttonhole on the other side, wondering why anyone would button up that low - d u h h.

6. Throw them in your underwear drawer, then promptly forget about
them. It's that easy! :D
