Too Darn Cute -- ***DIAL-UP WARNING*** Kitten Photos!!!
Edited on Thu Dec-21-06 05:54 PM by Mrs. Venation
This little guy (Bertha named him Popsicle) showed up at the Waldorf kitty buffet about two weeks ago. Today I saw him curled up in a bowl out on the porch, and I shot the pics through the window.

So, here is Popsicle, in all his cuteness!

1. Awwwww!
Cuteness overload!

I just had to break a cat fight outside. One cat was going what sounded like 'Lolololol ..." :)

2. Isn't He Adorable?
He's feral, so we can't approach him. He takes off like a bat out of hell if he even thinks we are watching him.

3. We have a neighbor's cat sleeping on our washer in the basement at night.
He's not feral, and I know his name (Leo), but he just freaks if he sees anyone. At least I could tell Ginger to not fight with him.

4. You Know How Cats
will hiss and growl and run when they're startled? That is a chain reaction in a household with multiple cats. Bertha and I call that a cat bomb. We get so tickled when that happens!

6. Many cat bombs here. :)
Even my sister's cat (Ginger's brother) who likes to sleep here. Every time I walk by him, he puts his ears back and starts growling. This one:

13. great pics
Are you sure he's completely feral? Good chance he is and I'm certainly not contradicting you, but some are "borderline" cases.

About 8yrs ago I took in a mother and her teenaged kitten. The mother may have had prior association with people and is tame as can be. Her daughter, Greta, I extremely shy, almost feral. I don't know if it's a feral thing or if she's just very shy. Her mother is the only cat she will associate with. She never shows any kind of aggression, she's just a classic "scaredy cat".

If I approach her slowly she'll allow me to pet her and once that barrier is broken, she just lets it all out. She just loves the attention. An hour later, if I want to pet her I have to go through the barrier again. I love this cat and feel so sorry for her. I think she needs a psychiatrist. She's happy, but she could be happier.

The fact that Popsicle sleeps on your porch leads me to think there MAY be some hope. If you want to make friends, maybe you can. It'll definitely require some patience though.

14. Bertha and I
take care of a feral colony in our neighborhood. We trap/neuter/return as we can catch the little darlings, but one queen has been far too smart to be lured into the trap, as is one of the sires.

Popsicle just might turn out like another semi-feral who has come into the house. We don't know when she came in (we have a cat door that's open while we are at home and awake), but she's slowly displaying less fear of us.

If the cats want to come in to a warm house, we let them. We have far too many cats in a too-small house, but, eh, what can ya do? Somebody's gotta love them.

18. Sounds like you know far more
about these guys than I do.

You're a good person with a big heart. If you don't mind me saying so, I love you for that. I love animals and I love people that love animals. Simple as that. Good luck.

19. When We Moved In To Our House
we had the two cats, Richard and Harry, who Bertha brought with her when she moved from California. It wasn't too long until we began seeing feral cats, and it was only a few months before the first litter was born. We had trapped that queen while she was pregnant, and we socialized the 4 kittens (and kept two ourselves, Toby and Petey).

We are kind of out of the way in a semi-rural area, and I guess it's a "good" place for people to toss cats they don't want. During our 5+ years here we must have taken care of at least 50 cats. We can't just let them starve, you see, and where other humans are cruel to them, well, we try to make up for that. We love our cats, feral and domesticated, and we do our best to make sure they have a loving home.

Right now our (mostly) indoor kids are Richard, Harry, Petey, Toby, Cocoa, Big Daddy, Skittles, Charley Girl, Mildred, Moosie and Smudge.
