Christoper Walken on Conan's show.....interesting
Edited on Fri Jan-02-04 01:33 AM by glarius
I have always found this guy to be a very interesting person....Right now, looking at his hair style, I wonder...WHY?....But is a hair style what defines one?....I think not.
edit--forget I even posted this...I think I had too much New Years good cheer...if you know what I mean!

4. It's from an SNL skit featuring Walken
about the band that did that "grim reaper" song that featured a prominent instrumental cowbell in it...

5. I worked with him...twice!
On "The Dead Zone" and on "Excess Baggage".

He's really weird and intense in person.

He cauget a friend of mine in the middle of his (flawless) Christopher Walken impression, and after the shoot wrapped, Walken made him do the impression for an audience at the wrap party.

Speaking of Walken, I just caught the tail-end of "A View to a Kill" on TV. That was CW's finest moment, IMHO!

6. This verifies my feeling that he has a good heart!
I think many "unusual" people are judged incorrectly to be anti social! Many of the people I have met in life, who were marginalized by others, I have found to be interesting and often more worthwhile than the nose to the grindstone others....

8. He's a very interesting person....
I heard an interview with him a couple of years ago, and the at-home persona is much different that he is on the set. He likes to paint, and during that interview, anyway, seemed very thoughtful and reflective and deliberate in the expression of his ideas--behavior quite at odds with the characters he often protrays.

Cheers.

24. hah! I watched "The Dead Zone" last night ...
One of my favourites. It was shot near where I grew up, and I look at the video whenever I'm feeling particularly homesick. (The gazebo built for the movie was still there in Niagara-on-the-Lake, last time I checked ...)

Funny thing -- two decades afterwards, "Stillson" (Martin Sheen) DID get to be President! And Nicholas Campbell (whose character also got his comeuppance) is on "DaVinci's Inquest".

I remember one of Walken's monologue quotes from when he hosted that SNL episode ... he was describing what happened when his family got snowed in "and we all ended up watching my movies".

I'm kind of glad to hear that he really is kind of eccentric. It's rather disappointing when you meet someone who has that reputation and turns out to be just faking it.

14. Right about that...
Fark even has a 'Walken' tag.

Over at Tribe.net, there's at least three separate 'More Cowbell' tribes.

The man is a cult unto himself.

He's also a pretty good dancer.

18. Caught the Conan thing.
The hair was to outdo Conan's do. Did you see when Conan poofed his hair up to match? Hilarious! I think he and Conan go way back! (Conan was SNL writer!) Walken is great actor, seems to be great guy!

21. CW is the Headless Horseman
in Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow.

He's all facial expressions and filed down teeth. Totally non-speaking, but when he's on screen you can see why Ichabod is such a fraidy cat. :D

It also works as something of a parody of his image. :P

25. To see another whole side of Walken...
check out a made-for-PBS film he made with Susan Sarandon, I think the title is "Who am I Now?", about a terribly shy man who works in a small town hardware store who comes alive when he goes in stage. Susan plays the new waitress in town who sees the gem behind the shy facade.

It is wonderful.
