When I got back from vacation recently, my car's speedometer, odometer, and tripometers didn't work. My car had been kept in my brother's garage (garage door left open).
My mechanic said some critter had gnawed through the wires. Also it had chewed on the plastic shield that's under the front of the car. He said it was a raccoon or possum, and if it was a rat he'd hate to see that rat.
I told my brother in case it happened to his vehicles. He insists it was a cat. There are several cats that wander around his neighborhood, and he feeds some of them.
There were pawprints on my car, and there have been on his, but I never heard of a cat chewing through car wires or cables.
What was it, wildlife or cat?

1. Well, my cat chewed through the phone charger cord for my mobile. |
|
So, it's certainly possible, but I would think it's more likley to be a critter, if the wires are of any size.

Chewed through my mother's copier power cord, her monitor power cord, my dad's pickup spark plug wires, one of the tvs power cords.
Our 4 had to be broken of the habit very fast.

3. I have heard of cats chewing electrical wires indoors, not on vehicles, |
|
though I suppose it is possible. We get wood rats (pack rats) in vehicles that sit for any length of time - they sure as hell will chew anything.
