9. I've already done that |
|
so it didn't come to mind.
It was one of the hardest things I ever did. I used aversion therapy on myself. For about a month, every time I smoked I thought of dying in an agonizing death because of smoking, gasping for air. Or, that I was told I had only months to live and would that momentary pleasure be worth fewer days on earth.
I set a quit date. Smoked my last one and went cold turkey, holing up at home for three days sleeping and eating everything in sight. The first day was hell, first week agony and first month an eternity, but then it got easier.
Two keys to my success were avoiding smokers and drinking for about three months.
Good luck. If I can do it, anyone can.

10. I was planning on stopping |

cold on Jan. 2 But I think I may need to set a quit date. Or maybe I am just stalling.
What does this mean---Two keys to my success were avoiding smokers and drinking for about three months. < you stopped drinking for three months???
Good for you that you were able to quit. :toast:

I didn't have a drink for about three months, until I was sure I could handle it. That was when I smoked the most and I knew the alcohol would weaken my willpower.
Everybody's different, though. I'm an all-or-nothing person, so this worked best for me. It also was the first and only time I tried to quit. Some people need several tries before it takes.
If you have a smoke, you can always quit again the following day.
But, you really should do it. I feel soooooo much better.
On edit: The following month, I gave up eating meat and became a vegetarian. What can I say, I really felt like shaking up my life and improving my health.

17. To get my act together, which entails a lot of things, but mainly |
|
comes down to not procrastinate/be lazy. I have to get to bed earlier, get up earlier, get places on time, not spend hours at a time on DU--you know, actually get things done for a change. It ain't going to be easy.

and procrastinating and my ass is going to get to work. I've got so much unfinished work that's waiting for me. And then I'm going to start subbing the finished stuff. And I'm going to put pen to paper and get started on a new project that's been simmering for the past year or so...
Yup. I am.
