1. On January 1, 1971...
I was 4-1/2 years old.

Later that month, my grandfather's funeral would indirectly contribute to my getting a baby brother in October, but that's a story for another day. :)

2. I love
stories "for another day"...hope I don't miss that one!

I've been tearing things out of old albums today so someday I can put them on CDs. Until I came across the invitation, I had no idea where I spent that New Years.

5. Jeez-o-Pete, let me see, 1-1-71.....
11 years old, living in New Orleans, watching my younger brothers, folks getting smashed at a party next door, first time I remember staying up. Took my cornet out and played Auld Lang Syne as fireworks went off all over the place. Later on that day, went to the Sugar Bowl where Tennessee beat Air Force.

6. Sounds like a pretty
good day for an 11 year old. Now there's an image in my mind of you, the music and the fireworks.
Nice. Thanks!

7. Interesting. My husband was the same age and living in Gretna! He played the clarinet, though.--
I, however, was very soon to be born. Yep, we've got a little bit of an age difference.

12. I don't rough them up
I did tell one of them that more educated and affluent men tend to have their children later in life though - I know, snotty, but I was in a snarky mood......

bestows the right of 'snarky' on us, doesn't it?

I just spent part of my day with a friend who was a Korean war bride. She's one of the funniest, sweetest people I know. She's also the best dessert baker!

Half of me was hanging around in one of my Mom's 14-year old ovaries. The other half was hanging low with my 23 year old Dad, probably drunk somewhere, trying to forget 'Nam.

close to my daughter's age. She was in Jr. High when we lived in Canada. I hope your Dad found some peace eventually. I had uncles his age in WWII - some never really did quiet the demons. :(

35. It was a sucky time.
Personally, my life was a wreck so going to a foreign country enabled me to table some of the 'garbage' temporarily while I played at helping make the movie. After the sneak preview in San Francisco, I quit my job and started picking up the pieces.

30. 1971: A VERY good year
My family and I were living in Vienna, Fairfax County, Virginia. I was fifteen and a high school sophmore.

Didn't do anything spectacular. Just got together with a few of my friends at my house. We watched the Times Square ball drop at midnight on Guy Lombardo's show.
