Who thinks the Monkeys were a way cooler band than the Beatles?
The monkeys even had their own cool saturday morning show. I think the beatles tried but again, they were trounced by the monkeys. The monkeys rule. I think the beatles were just a lame spin-off wanna-be band of the monkeys.

(Yep, I'm full of crap, but intelsucks has taken enough of a beating on his beatle views yet.)

Neil Diamond wrote I'm a Believer, for example.
Yes, that Neil Diamond.

Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart wrote Last Train to Clarksville

Boyce wrote Pretty Little Angel Eyes and Hart wrote Come a Little Bit Closer
(the wonders of Google, I don't actually Know this stuff, except for regarding Neil Diamond)

...Michael Nesmith wrote some of the songs. He also wrote "Different Drum," recorded by Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Ponies. I used to have a few of Nesmith's solo albums and currently have a few of his songs in MP3 format.

18. They wrote some of their own songs
Peter Tork wrote the closing theme song of the second season

Micky Dolenz wrote Randy Scouse Git

Mike Nesmith wrote a bunch of songs..

Also, I don't recall Elvis writing a lot of his songs (if any) and he is called the "king" of rock n roll.

15. Hello The Monkeys were a fake band
They used their voices but everything else was pretend. BTW I liked Davey Jones and Mickey Dolenz when I was a kid 100 years ago.

19. I saw the Monkees perform more than
several times from 1986 to 1987 and while they did have a back up band, they were out there working the instruments. The back up band and singers were there primarily for the times they did the more show tune like songs.

Peter Tork knows how to play keyboards and guitar. He has his own band, Shoe Suede Blues.

In an age when rap is popular and the main thing they do is spin discs why do people still beat up on the Monkees? Sure they were not CSNY or the Beatles but it was only the music press who tried to make them into the "American Beatles." They knew what they were and still do to this day.

Their show was original for its time.
