1. While holding down the ALT key, Press the Print Screen key on your keyboard.
2. Open an image editing program, such as Microsoft Paint.
3. Go to the Edit menu and choose Paste.
4. If prompted to enlarge the image, choose Yes.
5. Optional: Use your image editor's crop tool to crop out unnecessary portions of the screen shot.
6. Go to the File Menu and choose Save As.
7. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the image.
8. Type a file name for the image.
9. Select a file type, typically JPEG.
10.Click the Save button

I thought most people were on something like 1024 by 768

you should try it, if your video card and monitor support it. right click on your desktop, click properties, then the settings tab and see if you can go a higher resolution. you'll see a lot more. just make sure you click the OKAY button and NOT the APPLY button. clicking the OKAY button makes windows give you a chance to back out if your system can't handle the selected resolution. if your screen goes blank, just wait 10 seconds and it will switch back. if you instead click apply, you won't get that chance to go back.

I cannot get that part to work for me as far as scanning old photos into my computer. Am I completely stupid? My scanner scans the photos in as an 8x11 size piece of paper, and the picture ends up in the lower right corner. When I try to crop out all the extra white space (on paint), I can't get it to work. Any hints on how to do that?

I just wish I could adjust the size of the pic on the scanner, so if I have a 3x5 pic to scan in it will just scan that instead of coming out 8x11 with a pic in the corner. I am probably way over my head with this...I am not good at figuring stuff like this out. Where does one go on the computer to check the DPI setting? If I change the setting will it affect the operation of my computer otherwise, i.e. will I have to change it back when I get done scanning?

...I could walk you though it then. Check your scan settings. It may be called DPI, or scan resolution. Anyway, it's a number value, like 300, 600, 2400, etc. Basically, the higher the number, the more DPI you get, which lets you print larger images.

People like to send me lots of zip files, and they usually get saved there, so I extract them there. It's like my work place, only I navigate to the list of stuff there instead of finding on my desktop. It's really just like any other folder once you turn the icons off.

The wallpaper is tiled over and over, the texture of the wallpaper is an old scanned book cover, the frame with the broken glass is from two separate photos, and the white "paint" and tears in the wallpaper were done with various brushes. Throw some wood behind the tears and various layer blending methods, and viola, haha.

I rendered the background I made in Bryce3D... the blue box image is that of a TARDIS (the police box; iconic for "Doctor Who" (1963-1989, BBC). A couple flaws in that object, so I will re-render it at some point...

It's a great test pic for testing LCD monitor quality too. :7
