Rage Against the Machine brought a lot of politics to the table as well as the great Tom Morello on guitar. Probably one of a very few good "rap-metal" acts. Foo Fighters were pretty cool because they made good post-grunge Music. Radiohead is another good pick

1. for me it would have to be... |
|
either RATM or the grunge movement of the early 90s headed up by Nirvana. Nirvana had the music that said hey, life can get kinda fu*ked up sometime, just make the best of it, and i kind of identified with that.
Rage brought me in with the music, i found morello's guitar AMAZING. huge role model for me. the message kicked me deeper into polotics than any world event could throw me. i still listen to about 2-3 hours worth of em a day lol, yea im obsessed.
tossup for me

7. 24/7 they are fightin' Foo - I'd have to add Pearl Jam |
|
They quit making videos and got dropped like a rock from radio play lists (except of course for "10") and they kept on going. I guess they were more interested in being musicians than ROCK STARS!!!!!!!

Other candidates include: Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments Neutral Milk Hotel (only one great album, but it was REALLY great) Guided by Voices (I like their '80s stuff better) Johnny Cash (his four best albums since the late '60s)
Honorable mention: The Fall (among the tops the third decade in a row) Frank Black (a couple of his solo albums approached Pixies levels)
