Who's going to a protest tonight?
Edited on Thu Jan-11-07 04:44 PM by huskerlaw
MoveOn.org and many other groups are organizing anti-escalation protests around the country tonight.

So who's going???

I am!

On edit: Creative DUers...help me come up with sign slogans. The more evil, the better. ;)

1. My dear huskerlaw!
Oh, good for you!

Alas, I'm not.......

And as for creative slogans......my brains are mush today!

So..no help there......

So what am I doing posting?

Supporting you, of course!

3. Thanks!!
I'm not very creative today either, damn it!

All I've got so far is:

3018. Not ONE more!

and

"Surge" = Escalation

I don't even have one calling Bush a fuckstick, asshat, or other oddly descriptive, yet made-up curse word.

I'm slipping, I tell you.

Thanks for the support though! :hi:

4. That definitely counts
For every one of us standing on a street corner, there are thousands there in spirit.

And that's immeasurably important.

5. I'm more than likely going
to my local protest, except it is really cold out and I am not sure Little MB can take it.

6. Don't endanger yourself
or Little MB.

I'm fortunate...I live in Southern California. No weather worries here (though it does look like it could rain). ;)

Maybe go for a bit, but take care of your little one!

Little MB really likes going to protests (I've taken her to 4 or 5 so far). The TV cameras usually end up heading her way, and the cause gets a little more air time since they usually use her image for the closing credits.

This is us from 2 summers ago (much better weather)...

Also, you can visit former DUer Distressed American's website for graphics that you can print out as signs...

8. I don't know.

I have LeftyKid and the forecast actually has a chance of snow tonight (a once-a-decade event here) so I'm thinking about it but probably won't go. We'll see how it looks outside and how he's behaving.

I kinda like "Send the Bush kids first" or something to that effect, esp. if you can get some images of Jenna and Not-Jenna, Pierce, George P., Ashley or whoever the debutante one is, Jeb's addict daughter, etc making asses of themselves and add them.

17. SNOW?!
Yikes. I can understand not wanting to drag the kidlet out in that.

I like your suggestion. Alas, I'm making these really last minute...and while at work (shhh!). So my creative abilities are somewhat limited. I think people might wonder why I'm printing off large colored pictures of the Twits. ;)

23. That's what they said on the radio.
Last time I was in snow here, it didn't even make it to the ground. I just happened to be on an elevated freeway at the time, and it was visible there but didn't make it another 30 ft or so to ground level.

But yeah, snow. :wtf:

The really strange thing is, we've hardly had any rain this winter. By now we'd normally be eyeing the levees and worrying a bit, instead it's as clear and blue as summer outside, only much colder.

26. Same here, actually
We've had a LOT of highs in the 60s, lows in the 30s (!!) which is nearly 10 degrees colder than usual. And insane wind (just ask Malibu). But almost zero rain.

I think we've got a chance of rain in the forecast, and it's definitely cool and cloudy today. But I'll believe the rain when I see it, unfortunately.

28. The sky is a uniform cornflower blue here.
It's cold and windy, but there's not a cloud.

This time of year, we really shouldn't see the sun for days at a time. Don't get me wrong, I like a nice sunny stretch as much as anybody, but it's really worrying in terms of our water supply.

29. That it is.
Los Angeles shouldn't be worried about wildfires this time of year, but obviously we are.

Meanwhile, the current temp is 56 and it's been cloudy all day...which usually means RAIN. But no. Not a drop so far.

Alas, I think California's water situation is going to be horrible this summer unless the weather turns itself around SOON. x(
