I have been having knee issues lately. |
|
My knee gives out on me sometimes when I have been sitting for a while. It only happens if it has been bent. And it really hurts to straighten it out after being bent for a while. Does that just mean I am getting old? I remember it started doing this after jumping on the trampoline. I didn't twist it or anything. At least I don't remember.
And I am not asking for medical advice. Just wondering if anyone has had this type of experience with their knee.

1. My knees feel much better if I can move them |
|
if I have to sit with them bent for a while it will hurt straightening them out.

3. I've had knee problems since I was in my twenties. |
|
Eventually I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, but that was a whole different set of symptoms. You could have mild arthritis or, do your knees ever click when you go up or down stairs? That's something different which eventually can lead to knee problems.
As a kid I liked to drop from serious heights. I was good at it and always landed on my feet but I've wondered since if I didn't begin destroying the cartilage in my knees way back then.
Get it checked out. It's probably nothing but it would be a good idea to take care of it or eventually you could develop problems that aren't so easy to remedy. :hi:

18. Nothing but the truth from me, kiddo. I saw the picture of you from just |
|
last Christmas.
And you do deserve anything good that comes your way, be it compliments or whatever else.
Remember what I told you before about not selling yourself short? That's the key to recovery.
Remember that, OK?

Terrible pain and swelling after skiing, or running
degenerative process on the back of my knees.
Depending on how much you have used and abused your knees, you may have some problems.
I'd go see someone, probably something you can do, take, or have done to you to make it better.

7. I have been pretty rough on my knees also. |
|
And I really had no business getting on that trampoline and doing (or should I say trying) some of the tricks I could do in my teens. I tried a cartwheel the other day. That sure was a joke. I used to do back-hand-springs and flip all about. Aging sucks!

6. If they make a crunching noise, that could be chrondomalacia patella. |
|
You don't want that.

11. But it's great for grossing people out. You have them put their hand on your bent knee, |
|
then have them hold it there while your straighten your leg.
They hear the crunching and feel the grinding and always say YUCK!

if I miss too many days of not getting some kind of exercise I start aching in my neck, shoulders, and knees. Sometimes my hips
but moving the joints keeps them looser I guess
my knees get sore sometimes from exercise, but not near as much as they would if I didn't keep moving.

You might want to try glucosamine / chondroitin supplements. I have shoulder issues and they help a LOT.

20. hey SB, I have some advice.... |
|
I've had knee and hip issues for years, more than a decade now. Exercise helps in the sense that the pain worsens during periods when I'm sedentary, but it has not solved the problem, despite giving some relief.
Several months ago I changed doctors, and the new doc sent me for blood work, including Vitamin D levels. My vitamin D was off the charts low. I've since researched the issue a bit, and found that it is very common-- really the rule-- for folks in North America to be vitamin D deficient. Yes, we manufacture it in response to sun exposure, but we're evolved to live naked at the tropics. In north America we cover the majority of our skin, and get very little direct sun exposure.
Anyway, the doctor put me on vitamin D supplements. He had me on 55,000 IU a week for eight weeks. My pain went away after the first week. Now I'm taking 1000-2000 IU daily and the knee and hip pain is completely gone. I have some other issues with my feet that vitamin D does not seem to be helping, but the knee, hip, and lower back pain is no longer an issue.
