3. Hope You Are On High Ground Sis
Edited on Sat Jan-13-07 01:56 AM by Southpawkicker
or is there high ground?

it's a 3 foot Tsunami, but if it comes the way of the coast, it might push water out in front and all

I think the warnings right now are for Japan, Hawaii, and Alaska

edited:

the watch includes the west coast of the US, BC, and Alaska, and south of the US

5. I'm on top of one of the many hills around here.
I'm a little worried about my in-laws, though. They live in Ocean Shores, WA, which as the name indicates, is right on the edge of the West Coast of Washington.

7. Hmmmm, Well They Need To Watch The Warning Bulletins
the link to the LBN had one post that had a bulletin with times expected to hit. All the places looked to be other than west coast except it did say San Fernando.

It would be worth checking out that thread and seeing what you can find!

9. Thanks
They are talking about it on the news right now. Says there is a "reduced tsunami warning" for the Washington Coast, but I think I'll let them know anyway. They may already know, but I want to make sure.

4. Ours wasn't called a tnusami, but it was like one
waves that kept coming for hours and then reversing to recede, full of debris and destruction.

Having fought the waves, I don't want anyone to have to go through that, I want everyone high and dry.

2. My dear merh!
Thank you, sweetie!

I'm far enough from the ocean that this shouldn't be an issue!

But that was very sweet of you to be thinking of us......:loveya:

8. Aw. sweetie!
We're about a mile and a half from the beach......

Plus there's a ridge, a fairly substantial one, between us and the water...

So we're safe.....

Now, the folks right on the beach, in their multi-million dollar homes....

Not so much.........:scared:

11. Hi merh, thanks for posting in lounge
got busy watching in GD/LBN and missed in here.
Did you see the final tsunami results?

http://wcatwc.arh.noaa.gov/message529260-07.htm
A tsunami has been observed at the following sites:
Hanasaki, Japan 0.1m/0.3ft
Shemya, AlaskaShemya, Alaska 0.32m/1.0ft
Adak, AlaskaAdak, Alaska 0.04m/0.1ft
Dutch Harbor, AlaskaDutch Harbor, Alaska 0.06m/0.2ft
Midway I.Midway I. 0.18m/0.6ft
Hilo, HawaiiHilo, Hawaii 0.12m/0.4ft
Kahului, HawaiiKahului, Hawaii 0.17m/0.6ft
Nawiliwili ,HawaiiNawiliwili ,Hawaii 0.09m/0.3ft
Wake I.Wake I. 0.09m/0.3ft
Wave observations are the amplitude above sea level.

WA/OR/CA coasts have this warning: OTHER COASTAL AREAS IN THE PACIFIC MAY EXPERIENCE SMALL SEA LEVEL
CHANGES OR STRONG AND UNUSUAL CURRENTS.

I am glad that it ended up so small, and am glad to be part of an online extended group of people watching it. It's cold here, snow on ground for last 3 days, will probably stay a wk. Cats like it 'cause birds are coming onto porch to eat, chickens don't like it. Me, it's pretty and crunchy. How's you?
