My American Idol prediction |
|
that crazy-tall chick is gonna win.
And if you post about how much you hate American Idol, I will point out that the only thing worse than watching bad TV is posting on the internet about how much you hate bad TV.

she won't even be a finalist
there was some guy who auditioned last night who had a great voice. I don't remember his name, nor could I tell you what song he sang, but he had a really good tone.

She was pretty damn good.
But will a hunky guy ever win? Bo Bice was the closest but he was over the hill.

Glendale, AZ. It'd be nice if she could get a little farther in the competition. She has a good voice.

I can't seem to remember to watch AI. The couple times I do remember, it had already ended.

Do they get to choose their material at this point or do the AI judges decide for them?

they choose their own songs.
on edit: Even later they choose their own songs, but within limits. They either choose a genre or a particular artist.

14. I think when they get to the final 12 |
|
then they have "theme" shows and the group is given a list of songs from which to choose one.

17. I think the regular schedule is Mondays and Tuesdays |
|
Mondays for the singing, Tuesdays for the results.
I could be wrong about that.
Of course, in the first few weeks when they're showing the initial auditions, the schedule will be a total mess.

18. What about the Shakira look/sound alike |
|
she has potential - if she can find her own niche. And the latin music sales are pretty huge, so the producers would be pulling for her.

They are going to have some decent talent in the final eight or so, the most talented will get voted off too early, and the controvers will drive ratings through the roof.
I don't watch it, though I've seen a few episodes. It has sure caught on, though. They've taken the old Gong Show prime time and large. Now it has the atmosphere of a sports season. Big money maker.
Just an aside: one of the neat things about the episodes I've watched is the range of talent, from none to pretty darned good, and how the talent is shown to progress as the singers get training and experience. People can hear the difference between mediocre and good, and can watch good singers get better, or fail to. To me, it raises the awareness of good versus bad singing, and gives people an insight into how music is made, produced, etc. The net result may be higher expectations in the music world. I don't think it will eliminate the weak-voiced-dancer-body pop sensations, but it may elevate the level of talent people expect in general. Just a thought. Or maybe a hope?

ALL music is "produced". Even Punk.
I think it's enlightening to see how these kids go through the process.
