Yes, I know it has its diehard fans, but I can't sit through it again. It's just all - wrong.
I don't necessarily object to anachronisms in movies, but somehow this film just didn't set right with me. I almost walked out of the theater.

10. That's a film you either click with or don't. |
|
I wasn't sure until the end that I would even finish watching it, and wasn't sure afterwards whether I liked it or not, though parts of it really got to me. After a few days I couldn't get it out of my mind, and watched it again, and since then I've considered it one of the greatest films ever made. Not really one of the most likable, though I do. But just one of the most impressive visions put onto film I've ever seen. And I can't even explain why. So I get why some people hate it, but I love it.

27. It's short attention span theater |
|
They can't sing a whole song with two verses, a chorus, and another verse. That would be almost three minutes, which is waaaay too long to listen to the same song. They throw a couple phrases from one song leading into a couple phrases from another song. Drives me nuts with their blender mixing of songs.
That's what I couldn't stand about Moulin Rouge.

But if I'd have had a revolver during "Return of the King," something would have gone down. Me, the projector, the projected image of Frodo flying over the lava field... :grr:

You got to be whacked out on some narcotics to get into that one. Damn.
It's worth seeing all of the English woman nudity, but the whole hippy sci-fi and Sean Connery's "Lemmy in a red Speedo" look . . . NO.

So much so that, in the UK, Heineken ran a tv ad satirizing it in a thinly veiled-way.
After a long scene full of pretentious dialog involving "metamorphic dualism" and "existential self-referentialism," the characters swig a Heineken, pause for a moment, then one of them says "stuff that, Linda. Lets go down the pub and get a Chinese takeaway after."

Swear to God, I've tried watching that movie TWICE, and have fallen asleep both times.
Blowing my head off would be more exciting.
And what's weird is, normally, I love Tim Burton movies.
