'Old Country Buffet' may be blue, but they sure as hell act red.
An employee asked the manager (nicely too) if he could go on break. The manager responded, in a gruff stern voice, "I am your supervisor and I'll tell you when to go on break!"

:wow:

For one thing, the place was hardly busy...

Still, it's a highschool-type job and the supervisors are probably told to act like drill sergeants...

1. Hard to tell sometimes
In the grocery store where I work there are a select group of people who are real pains in the ass as far as breaks go. There's the bagger girl and the checker boy who date and try to take breaks together, during which they disappear for about half an hour (a break is supposed to 10 minutes) or the guy who always wants a break when he's less than an hour into his shift or the 2 baggers and the kid who stocks the bread who always connive to take breaks together, leaving the front end without any help - they usually end up fooling around in the back room for as long as possible. All of this screws up other people who actually work and who'd like to take a break but can't because these others are fucking around.

So it's possible the kid asking for the break has abused it in the past but it's also possible the manager is a dick.
