Poll question: For all Seahawk fans... |
|
While we may all be depressed at the sudden end to our season, 10-6 and the first playoff berth of the millennium is nothing to sneeze at.
However, next year, we get a tougher schedule, and less help in the draft. The Rams will still be around, and you have to expect the 49ers won't have a second bad season in a row.
So, my question: When will Seattle's next playoff appearance be?

5. Sorry, but they've got no resemblance to the Philly uniforms. |
|
You might not like them, but the comparison is bizarre.

...some of the ugliest uniforms I've ever seen. :puke:
When they first introduced them, they had white pants on the home uniforms, and the whole combination didn't look too bad. By the time the first season started, though, they had gone with the trend toward dark everything at home, and wound up looking like they were wearing pajamas designed by someone with severe clinical depression.
Seriously, where's "Queer Eye for the NFL Guy" when we really need it?

7. Dang. Them are some bizarre results. |
|
The Seahawks now have one of the best QBs in football leading a very good offense that is likely to get better. They have a defense on the way up and a fair to strong coaching staff. Despite the presence of Paul Allen and Bob Whitsitt, they are a team likely to contend for the playoffs for the next few years.

I think of it this way: this is the first year that they haven't had Mike "Let's give away Ahman Green for a stiff who never plays a down for us" Holmgren inadvertantly proving the Peter Principle by trying to be both coach and GM. Plus, the defense really took a dive after Norman Hand went out with an injury, and he should be fine next year. Of course, we're likely to lose Shawn Springs this off-season...but I doubt there are many 'Hawk fans who would consider that a big loss.
My main concern is next year's schedule, which looks a lot tougher than this year's. With 10-6 being required this year for even a shot at getting in the playoffs on a tie-breaker, I would figure they have to improve at least to 11-5 next year. That's going to be hard with their upcoming schedule.

10. The "toughness" of the schedule can be misleading. |
|
Compare the 'Hawks and Packers schedule this year. The Packers won their division with a 12-4 record last year, and thus were given a "tougher" schedule this year. However, at the end of the season 'Hawks opponents had a better record than Packers opponents, indicating that the 'Hawks actually had a more difficult schedule this year. Anyway, there is always such fluctuation in the NFL that it's actually impossible to determine a true strength of schedule for next year, at this point in time.

11. I can't stand the Packers but... |

I also enjoyed Walrus-Man Holmgren choke on another seachicken bone.
When I lived in Seattle, I became a devoted Mariners fan, and a fairly strong Sonics fan, but I could never work up enthusiasm for the football team, especially after the Nordstroms sold them off and then Behring took over, and then Allen... it's just a sorry debacle one year after the next.
I loathe Holmgren so much I root for him to lose. I enjoyed the implosion today. :D
