Queer Eye for the Straight Guy on NBC |
|
I swear, maybe I am heterosexual?!
I don't look as buff as the gay guys, but I'm gay.
I have no sense of interior decoration as the gay guys, but I'm gay.
But my sartorial taste beats the snot out of theirs, and I definitely AM gay!
So there! :P
If nothing was on, I'd probably tune in regularly. But I don't see what's so great about this program or all the others similar to it (redecorating homes and flats and people...)
The straight guy they had on looked cuter with the beard too. Oops.
Dunno. I don't like stereotypes and this show is chock full of 'em.

1. That episode is a repeat |
|
I didn't like that one 'cause the guy they made over was a cheapskate.
Not everyone is born with the 'aesthetic' gene-gay or straight-so don't worry!

2. I agree with you on their clothes |
|
OK, I'm gay, and I HATE the clothes these guys wear. It must be a NYC thing, but they look like crap, and half the time I think they make those poor straight men look like crap too (although most of them looked like crap already). Yeah, the show is full of stereotypes, but I still find it amusing. These guys are real--don't tell me you don't know five gay guys just like that! Carson is a scream!
CARSON: "Oh, what a great couch! Where did you get this?" STRAIGHT GUY'S LOVABLE GREEK MOM: "I got it at Sieman's." CARSON: "Oh! I have a semen couch too!!"

I think they look OK and the other 1/2 of the time I think they look like an aged version of New Kids on the Block.
They did do a good job with the guy who does woodworking, though. think Greg Allman look alike. He looked youthful and age appropriate when they got done with him.

3. aren't there shades of gayness :)? |
|
On another note: from my experience (working with many gay guys), those stereotypes are true for the most part.

through our house (his first visit in 4 years). I apologized for the clutter, saying "We don't deserve to be gay-we're too messy". He stopped, arched an eyebrow, and agreed that we were probably closet heterosexuals but should learn to stifle our inner selves!
As to Queer Eye-its cute, nothing more. Light fun when there's nothing better to do.
