Post your links-songs that "take you back"
You know what I'm talking about-those songs you hear on the radio and you immediately know where you were the first time you heard them. Or songs that bring up powerful memories. Post the link and the memory if you want.

3. I haven't thought about that event or song
in a long time either. For some reason it just popped into my head when I read the OP. Kind of weird. It's a good memory; I haven't thought about my high school buddies in a long time. Crazy times at the seminary, indeed.

6. Ever notice that, more than almost anything else,
it's music that can take you to a different time and place.

There are a few songs that I still cannot listen to even today.

(This isn't the actual video for the song, if there even is one. This might be better, though!)

5. Oh the sound of the guitar. Cutting Like a rusty chef's knife. 1978
VAN HALEN

I first heard 'Running with the Devil' at a Meier and Frank department store. Done with clothes shopping with mom I
got up to the mezzanine and the record shop and the clerk was playing this on his turntable.

FUCKING A!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpX3NhpRGdE&mode=related&search=

Nobody played a raw guitar sound like that, or played like that, since Hendrix.

8. Wow.
I remember my babysitter listening to that alot when it first came out.

Maybe that's why I always associated the song with lots of heavy smoke.

10. What a great song.
I'd forgotten about this. Something about Linda-I don't think about her that often but when I sit and listen I'm always blown away. Fantastic voice.

18. Just Once and Kiss You All Over (the old version)
Made out with this one guy our first week in college, to "Kiss You All Over". Smokin' swimmer's body (cut abs and all), tan from a summer lifeguarding at the beach, and a great kisser, all with this erotic song as background. It was like a first hit of heroin - amazing, but nothing but trouble after that.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJJQpSzDgC0

After that, he'd periodically find me at a party or bar and get me to slow dance with him, and we'd hook up. My friends were appalled - evidently everyone knew he was a total whore. Finally I said "forget it - never again - I have to get my self-respect back" and stopped falling for his nonsense. Went cold turkey even though I saw him EVERYWHERE.

Two years later at a club, and he dragged me out to the dance floor for "Just Once". For some reason (I blame the song) I agreed to go home with him, but only if he snuck out first, so no one would see us.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmwIT78Rq2A

The next day at least 10 people confronted me with "Patiod, I heard you hooked up with X! What were you thinking! He's a pig!". That night at dinner I made a point to avoid my party friends, and sat with another my quiet friends - unsocial bookworm types - and even one of THEM said, "Hey, Patiod! I heard you left Mr. C's with X last night? For real? Isn't he really bad news?"

At least that finally did it - like an addict hitting rock bottom, I never went near him again (well, there was that one time at the beach, but they were playing "Just Once" and..........)

20. We've all had boys like that in our lives.
Bad news but we keep going back. I don't know if the sex is really that great or if it's a forbidden fruit thing but...well, you just have to work it out of your system.

And both are great songs.

19. Blues for Baby and Me
by Elton John off the "Don't Shoot me I'm only the Piano Player"

Brings me back to 9th grade and the 6 foot goddess I was enamored with at that time.

I remember roadtripping w/ this song on in the background.

I also remember hooking up w/ a really hot guy while watching him at a concert.

Good times.

joke is useless. Ignore me. :D

Seriosly though, a song that takes me back is Desire by U2. High school boyfriend, hours of kissing. ;-)
