Hey DU'ers... I leave tomorrow for a long weekend in Vegas with some friends and need some help deciding what are the "MUST DO" things while we're there? Clubs, attractions, shows, dining, etc.
Any suggestions?

1. Hard Rock hotel and casino for the best table games. |
|
Bellagio most opulent resort. Best dining: The Hard Rock has some of the best restaurants in the city. Steak, Mexican, Comfort Food, Japanese fusion.
Blue Man Group is my favorite show. The Phantom is OK. I'll get you some links for live acts.
Let me know if you need info about local joints etc.

We're staying at the new Wynn hotel. It's been such a long time since I was in Vegas, there are so many new things to do.
I will add Blue Man group to the list :)
Edit: Thanks for the link too :hi:

5. the wynn is probably the best hotel now |
|
nice choice
oh, here is a corny thing to do if you have never done it, the star trek experience at the hilton is WAY more cooler than it was when they first opened it back in the day

8. I still can't figure out... |
|
Where the doors go. Did that four times. Still can't figure it out.
There's a "half price ticket" place that is cheaper than buying the tickets at the Hilton.

4. hard rock hotel not even close to the best table games |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-24-07 07:14 PM by pitohui
the best table games can be easily calculated or check with a site that carries reports that calculate the odds for you, quick rule of thumb, the more odds offered in craps, the better the craps game, for blackjack dealer should stand on all 17s in blackjack or you shouldn't play, the very best games also offer surrender altho surrender seems to be fading from the land, alas, probably because most people don't even play well enough to know what it is
don't play any blackjack games that short pay you for your blackjack, this is unfortunately most single deck games everywhere these days
wynn is now the most opulent resort supposedly, it looks okay to me, haven't stayed there
if they stay at those suites at venetian, bring some damn duct tape or something to cover those pesky lights that are supposed to keep you from falling down into the living room "pit" -- what the hell where they thinking?
paris and mirage rooms are unacceptably small but their suites can be very nice
agree blue man group is one of the best shows, bellagio's o is also a "wow"
hard rock's food is no better than any other of the majors and their location sucks, i would advise a real strip location esp. for a vegas virgin, central strip bellagio as far north as wynn, any of those are fine in my opinion for strolling and seeing the sights, esp. at night when the lights are best
there are too many fine restaurants in the central strip area to name, best to google one's favorite chefs and see what they have on offer

7. Fremont Street At Night |
|
After wallpaper of Casino-Hotel-Restaurant-Shops... Fremont Street is a change. There is a three-block long canopy in which multicolored LED's are used to create a huge animation display for different musical shows every hour on the hour. Get a tall drink and stroll around.
Get married. The courthouse is open pretty late. I proposed at the Venetian at about 10:15 PM. We got our license at around 10:45 PM and since the JP wasn't in, we went to the nearest neon chapel and were married by 11:30. So we got to catch the midnight show around the corner on Fremont Street (we had to tell them to hurry it up a bit since we missed the 11:00 show). There are lots of pawn shops around with a wide selection of rings.
We tried to put the kids up for adoption on the same night, but they said we needed to go to another office. The clerk said, "This is where we put families together. You have to come back in the daytime to take 'em apart."
There's an ATM machine for the $75 fee and a stack of forms in the lobby.
The Fab Four Beatles tribute band at the Aladdin is nice. Small clubby atmosphere.
Window shopping at the Venetian is a trip.
