Though I am very pissed at team Canada. For the last seven years I have seen them take a sure thing and fuck it up in late in the game. These kids are cocky and it makes them relax when they shouldn't.
That being said I'm glad the USA won because they have never won it before and always send hardworking teams that deserve a win. Unfortunatley, I am sure some kind of arrogant US hockey guy will say something stupid to dirty up the win ala Chelios.
Also: For the fans, maybe because of this, next year the game will be on TV

1. Do you believe in miracles? YES! |

OK, so it's not quite the same, but I'm surprised we did so well. I want to win the Olympic Gold Medal again. Maybe this bodes well for 2006. :D

2. Aye, congrats to Team USA. |

I turned it on just as the game was finished. All the American players were hugging and all the Canadian players were crying so I knew right away what happened, and kicked myself for missing it. Three unanswered goals by Team USA? Wow, they did work hard.

He went to shoot the puck out and hit a Canadian player and it went back into the net. It looked like they were imitating the Washington generals.

7. I don't think we should be laying it all on Fleury. |

Those who got to see it know he didn't have his best tournament, but he did make some game saving stops earlier and it was the entire team that collapsed in the third.
The turnover at the the U.S. blue line that led directly to O'Sullivan's goal was brutal and left Canada with 3 guys trying to get back into the play. (Beautiful shot by O'Sullivan by the way).
Like everyone in Canada, it's gold or nothing for me so I'm already looking forward to North Dakota next year. Good point made on TSN - if it was the Canadians that came back from 2 goals down in the third we'd be thumping our chests about playing good Canadian never-say-die hockey. As it stands, we played our worst period of the tournament at the most inopportune time and the Americans shoved it right down our throats. I hate it, but it makes for great anticipation for next year. We'll see how the States does as the defending champions and I'm guessing the mantra for team Canada next year will be something along the line of "Alright, no more bullsh*t. Get it done".
All in all it was a pretty good tournament - we were treated to a dramatic upgrade in quality of refereeing from complete, utter f*cking garbage to remarkably sh*tty. On a personal note, if Canada was going to lose the gold to anyone I was hoping for either Finland or the U.S., not much of a silver lining (no pun intended) but it'll get me through work tonight.
Congratulations to team U.S.A
Congratulations to our boys from team Canada, North Dakota awaits!

6. very sporting of you to extend your congratulations.. |

and you really have no reason to be ashamed of the performance of Team Canada. It was an unfortunate mistake that cost them the tourney, and dammit, if it weren't for that own goal we would have gotten a period of free hockey!
Hopefully you are right; winning the medal, and the fact that the tournament is in the Forks next year, perhaps it will get more (some?) TV coverage down here.
