Should I apply for this activist job?
Edited on Tue Jan-06-04 12:00 PM by camero
It is for the Florida Consumer Action Network (FCAN). They are active on consumer issues for Florida such as Prescription drug costs for seniors, the local telephone rate hikes, the insurance and malpractice issues, etc.

My only real doubt is that I have not had an office job in 20 years and I am not sure they would find me qualified. They have phone canvassers and door-to-door canvassers. And part time and full time positions.

The part I would like about it is I would be around people with knowledge of the issues and is another way to meet new people.

You guys are well aware of my debating skills and opinions of some of theses issues as I have been posting here for awhile now so I thought I should seek the wisdom of DU.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

1. I say do it...
If it's something you want to do and it's a viable option, why not? And what's the worse they can do if you apply and they don't think you're qualified? Tell you "no" and thank you for your time.

2. Thanks
I may also be of help to oust Bush as the elections are coming up. I've just never had an activists job before. All blue collar jobs except for my stint at a doctor's office 20 years ago.

Office politics is what really gives me the creeps about it.

4. Just do it
and ignore the office politics aspect of it. There are office politics with just about every job.

3. Don't be ruled by your fear.
If it's something you love, go for it!

5. We can use an activist in any way shape or form in Florida right now.
Go for the interview, and good luck to your success.

6. Thanks I will
The destruction that Jeb has done to this state just irks me to no end and I have an urge to contribute even if it is just in a small way. I also want my siblings to get a good education.
