Am I alone in feeling rather flatfooted over all the football threads? |
|
I've never been much for sports........
I don't have any objection to it, but .......
Still, I know next to nothing about it....
So....I feel sort of left out tonight....

I click into them just because and it looks like English but I have no idea what anyone is talking about.
So I'm playing Spider Solitaire and clicking back and forth. :hi:

9. I had a fairly large superbowl party, even though neither team was one I really follow.. |

The whole experience was more about the people than the game. It was a good excuse to share some food and drinks with a bunch of close friends...that was about it.

It beats me why people sit for hours on their butts, eating and drinking and watching other people get a workout  But it does mean I'm not invited to Superbowl parties and it does mean I don't understand a darned thing anybody's posted about the game tonight. 28. You really don't need to know much about football to join in |
|
If you're ever caught in a football conversation/thread, just say one of the following:
"Prevent defense? Sheee-it! All that ever does is prevent you from winning!"
or,
"Jaysus Keeerist!! My 10 year old niece throws a tighter spiral than that!"
or,
"Belichek? He's smart, sure, but he's no Bill Walsh."
Or, it's perfectly acceptable to grunt, tsk, scoff or otherwise indicate that everyone else in the conversation is a blithering idiot who wouldn't know a football from a mothball. Master these simple tricks, and you'll never be left out again! :)

43. Next day -- Hi Peggy. I watched the pre-game show while packing to leave Las Vegas... |
|
Then Billy Joel sang -- that was delightful.
The first kickoff was a 92 yard runback for a touchdown -- making Super Bowl history.
Hubby and I shared some popcorn and a couple of beers. (It was our 34th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday.)
Then, we kind of drifted into our last lovely dinner and packing mode and turned off Prince and the rest of the game.
I went swimming in a lovely pool and didn't find out who won until about 9:30 PM Pacific Time.
Football? In Miami, Florida, in the rain?
Dumb as a doorknob.
PS.
It was Husband #2, deceased last month, who would have watched the game.
And Boyfriend #2, deceased last year, who would have watched the game. (He was born in Indiana.)
See? I got all the sportsmen out of my life!
Good night and good luck!

all sports are way overrated. I'm not into competing to prove I'm better than somebody else at all.
And the fans act like they've personally won the thing when it's a bunch of millionaires that don't care squat for those fans that have won it.
The commercials are cool and Prince was fun to watch. Apart from that, the Super Bowl made my evening at work feel like it was 3 days long rather than 11 hours.
I'd much rather just kick back and listen to tunes!

hmmm...I know this is from yesterday...I felt that way a few weeks ago...it seems like there were some sports going on and people kept posting everytime a score was made. I think it was football. Pretty soon, there were like 20 different posts on sports (the same event, I think). I felt lost. Luckily I worked all evening last night so I missed most of that.
