Poll question: In honor of tonight's game, what is the biggest sports rivalry? |
|
Of course, you all know my vote.

I lived in NYC for 4 years and I now understand the unbridled enthusiasm of Yankees fans :D

When I moved here (from Cincinnati) I wanted to root for a home team, but just couldn't go for the Reds' old nemesis: Mets....
Luckily, I arrived during a bunch of good Yankee seasons (Jeter's arrival, Paul O'Neill, great Bernie days, etc...) so the devotion hasn't been difficult for me to muster up.
Just a couple short months left, 'til the Boys of Summer re-take the diamond!

What is this Duke you speak of - is it something to do with John Wayne?

5. Even though I live in MI, I have to say Yankees/Red Sox |

When I went to Fenway to see the Tigers play, the amount of anti-Yankees merchandise, the chants of Yankees suck (during a Tigers game), were just amazing. Not to take anything away from Michigan Ohio-State, but objectively, the intensity of Yankees-Red Sox over a 162 game season is just in a class by itself. And that's not even considering the historical dimension of the rivalry.
(Full disclosure: I hate Michigan, I'm a Sparty.)

The individual players on the Bears / Packers weigh more than the players on Michigan / Ohio State. However, a college team has more players on the roster than a pro team so I'd go with Michigan / Ohio State
