It's on TCM and only half over but I fucking adore it.

Robert Duvall rocks and I am in love with Tess Harper.

Plot Summary for
Laberinto del Fauno, El (2006)
"Pan's Labyrinth" is the story of a young girl who travels with her pregnant mother to live with her mother's new husband in a rural area up North in Spain, 1944, after Franco's victory. The girl lives in an imaginary world of her own creation and faces the real world with much chagrin. Fascist repression towards the end of World War II (1944) is at its height in rural Spain and the girl must come to terms with that through a fable of her own.

This story is about a twelve year old girl who is interested in fairy tales. After the fascist victory in Spain, she moves with her pregnant mother to her mothers new husbands mansion. Her new father is a sadistic captain in Franco's army. She can hardly accept this sort of new life, when a faun creature who looks very real appears, an he can save her. But he wants something in return. Its impossible to say when watching the movie whether that dimension is real or not. Maybe after watching the movie you still cant say...

3. I like its simplicity.
You just travel along with the characters. Despite the tragedies, there is a sense of hope.

Duvall is fabulous in it, as is Harper and the young kid who plays her son.

The music adds to the storyline SOOOO well.
