Help! I'm computer challenged.
If I "delete" a program, will that "uninstall" it?

No, I don't know. Stop laughing and rolling your eyes.

1. Depends, but generally the answer is no.
You should uninstall it, otherwise it might leave registry entries and drivers in the system directory, among other things.

5. Here you go:
Assuming you're using Windows.

Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down to the program you want to uninstall and click the "uninstall" button. Follow any subsequent instructions the uninstaller gives you.

7. Go to Start->Control Panel
In the control panel, open 'add or remove programs'. This should default to a list of installed programs. This may take a while to populate. Find the program select in and choose remove/uninstall. If the program is not listed, (especially if its an older program) sometime the uninstall is in start->(the folder that holds the program you want to uninstall).

3. Not necessarily
It's always best to uninstall a program via the unistall application in either Windows or within the particular software. If you just delete it, you take the chance of deleting the DLLs that are used by other programs.

6. Nope.
When you install a program, it often changes certain settings, registry entries, etc. and places files in more than just the installation folder. Doing an actual uninstall will reverse all of these, rather than just deleting the files.

8. No...
registry entries and so on will be left intact; if you're on Windows XP, do this: Start Menu > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, then select the program from the list and click "Change/Remove", click "Yes" when asked "Are you sure you want to completely remove the selected application and all of its components?" and that will uninstall it.

9. actually
even after a program has been deleted and/or uninstalled, it still resides on your computer and can be retrieved with certain software.

Delete in no way uninstalls a program.

10. Well, actually...
all "delete" does is reset the bits on the hard drive allowing those sectors to be overwritten; the data can still be retrieved unless the drive has been wiped (usually by overwriting the drive sector with zeroes eight times--that's the NSA standard for wiping a drive, and there are several applications available that will do this).

11. Thank you! Mwah!
I now know how to uninstall a program.
My treachery knows no bounds.
}(
On a side note, uninstalling a program that is in Spanish, when your Spanish language skills extend from talking about "amigos" and "quesadillas" to counting from uno to diez, is a moderate pita.
