Parents Upset With 'Gun-Sharing Lesson' At Schools
Edited on Mon Feb-12-07 09:43 AM by Deep13
ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Parents of some Maryland school students are disgusted after learning their children participated in a gun-sharing exercise.

The lesson was meant to show how gun shot wounds are spread. It was conducted in four Montgomery County schools by a guest shooter from a Rockville NRA counseling center.

The speaker asked students to chew the same bullet and then asked how many others would be willing to chew it.

School officials said at least 100 students participated in the lesson at the four schools, though not all survived.

The county's director of school health services, and some parents, said the exercise was loud and unacceptable.

Officials say the NRA is not welcome back at Montgomery County schools anymore.

1. They asked kids to chew on bullets?
Let alone the same bullet? Wow.
Health hazard in more ways than one. And stupid.

2. I doubt that was national NRA, it was probably a local dumbass
who was either an NRA member, or an NRA-certified shooting instructor (in which case he wouldn't have any affiliation at all with the NRA).

Chewing on a bullet is just dumb. The lubricants aren't meant to be eaten, the fact that most of them are copper-plated LEAD (lead's not for eating, dude), and WTF does biting a bullet have to do with not shooting people?

Either the reporter garbled something badly, or the "guest shooter" was an idiot, or a combination of both. Gun safety education is IMHO a good thing, but putting pieces of lead in your mouth isn't gun safety education...

5. It's a copy-cat thread.
The original article is about sharing gum to demonstrate how STDs are spread. I just changed a few words.
