Followed by someone saying "wow, that was remarkably rude" or "What a hateful way to put that" or something else to indicate that I made a good choice putting the person on ignore.

I noticed last week that the people who are on my ignore list are the ones who attract those comments. Which means that they have remarkably little to contribute to the level and content of the discussion at hand.

Two took my words the wrong way and flew off the handle (one of them actually sent me a PM telling me to blow him), and I don't have the time or inclination to go into long explanations or get into long discussions with people like that.

To be honest, the whatever the third did (this being the first person I've ever put on ignore) I've forgotten, but I know that it must have irritated the crap out of me to take that step. I'll trust my judgement and leave the person there.
