how long can you be alone before you start to crawl up the walls?
I have pretty high tolerance for solitude, but because of a quirk in my schedule, I have four day weekends and no significant other to distract me. Even though I have work to do at home, I can't really concentrate until the end of the weekend, and go up to the neighborhood diner just so the old lady waitress can prattle some human contact at me.

How long can you be alone before you start to come unglued?

3. I love being alone
I can't recall a time when I was alone for so long that I started craving companionship. But to be fair, I can't recall a time when I was alone for more than maybe a week at a stretch.

I'd love to find out, though.

6. Depends. Allow me use of my computer and photographic equipment,
and I'd be entertained (and/or put to good use) for decades.

10. I have no significant other and I prefer it that way.
Just as long as I have my dogs to keep me company, my TV, DVD player and computer, I am perfectly content.

I, however, enjoy solitude.

17. I've been divorced for just over a year and I dig being alone
I have a small duplex, I'm fixing it up as I go along. So I dont get yelled at for it being a tad messy. I work alone out of my house.

I f'ing love it.

21. big difference between being alone and being lonely
at least for me anyways. In the Peace Corps I was surrounded by people nearly everyday, but I often felt so isolated and lonely. I can stand being alone for much longer than being lonely.

24. Pretty long
I'm an extreme introvert. If you're into Jungian/Myers-Briggs stuff - I usually get around 75% introverted on those tests.

I've made it at least a week completely on my own.

26. Totally alone? Even no phone contact?
I'd say about 3 days max.

Ten years ago I would have said I'd be fine alone for the rest of my life. Not so anymore.

27. If you think about it, why is solitary considered a worse punishment in prison than ass rape?
Guys would rather be around people and risk being raped and beaten to death than be locked up alone.

28. Yeah...give me a couple of books and my own CLOSED OFF jail cell and
I would be a lot happier than in the prison population, defending myself from shivs and guys who wanted my perky ass.

If I had to be alone without a computer and the Internet I would go BATSHITINSANE really fast.
