I'm thinking of joining "Rotary International" |
|
According to the gentleman that will be sponsoring me should I decide to join, it doesn't lean one way or another politically and it's not necessarily faith based although he said they do say a prayer before their dinner and lunch meetings. The membership fee and dues are a little high but from what I've seen in my city they've done a lot of good.
Any other DU'ers in the Rotary?

1. I was in 'Junior Rotary' for 10 years |
|
aka Jaycees, aka Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Seemed like everybody joined the Rotary when they aged out of Jaycees at 40. I didn't, though, because it was full of bankers and realtors and stuff.
One thing I know about 'em is you gotta carry some cash with you to meetings because you're liable to get fined for anything from wearing an ugly tie to serving the wrong kind of beer at your Super Bowl party. It's a tradition.

2. I was runner-up in their oratory contest for high-schoolers. |

They gave me a decent breakfast at Carrow's and a nice round of applause. Seemed like a decent bunch of fellas, but what did I know? I was fourteen at the time.
