You wanna know what really blows my mind about the Dixie Chicks? |
|
All this furor, all the angst, and death threats, and cd burnings, and paragraph after paragraph of vile insults on FR (and elsewhere) was over ONE comment made at a concert where Natalie Maines basically said that she doesn't like the President. She didn't threaten his life. She didn't go on a 20-minute obscenity-filled rant about him and his mother. She made one off-hand comment that was, by any normal person's standards, quite tame.
Think of the hours of disgusting lies, lowest-of-the-low insults and outright threats Bill, Rush, Sean and their ilk spew every single day. Think of the vicious attacks freepers have vomited onto their keyboards over this.
It's not surprising, of course, but it is mind-boggling that RWers think they can say anything they want about whomever they want but heaven forbid anyone say they don't like poor Dubya.
Well, you what? I'm not from Texas but I'm ashamed to come from the same country as that piece of shit. Hell, I'm ashamed to come from the same species (although sometimes I wonder if he isn't some bad mutation).

Another interesting note of hypocrisy on the rw sites. The Freepers are all jerking off to John Howard's comments about Barak Obama, praising him to high heaven. But when ANY foreign leader says anything even slightly disparaging about Bush, they scream in unison that furriners have NO RIGHT to involve themselves in US affairs.
Dicks.

3. The added hypocrisy being, of course, that they think the US can involve itself |

in the affairs of any country we please.

2. I was appalled at the reaction from the RWers to Natalie Maine's |

comment. That's part of their game plan, though -- they can spew all the vile they want, and think it's just fine. But let someone not in their group do the same, or even make a remark like Natalie's, and they go all Drama Queen on you.
What I know though, is that that kind of thing says far more about THEM than it does about anyone who makes a statement that falls outside their prescribed lockstep remark. I think it scares the hell out of them, and so they attack.
Personally, I love it that the Chicks got 5 grammys! (And I think they were well deserved.)

4. That's why they are repukes |

Most of them are filled with hatred and that is one reason they follow a hate-filled party. And they really do have a sheep-type mentality. If you ever go to those sites you will notice they hardly ever have flamefests like we do here. It's not because we are all assholes, it's because they all follow the same thoughts that they are told to follow.

7. I was pondering that this morning |

about how this firestorm of ill will toward the Chicks began with one lousy off-hand comment made during a show in BRITAIN, for cryin' out loud. If my (thankfully) brief visit to Freeperville this morn was any indication, these right-wing dickwads are STILL milking (dry-humping?) this "controversy" - lots of nasty comments about Natalie Maines' slight weight gain, among other things. And on whose behalf? An imbecilic, rich shitstain who won the lottery when he was born; a guy who would sell out his most devout acolytes in a heartbeat if it meant a few more bucks in Halliburton's coffers. These people truly have the government they deserve - too bad the rest of us are along for the ride.
P.S. I mentioned it this morning, but I'll say it again: I loved Natalie Maines' Nelson Muntz-esque "Ha-haa!" at the Grammys! Highlight of the show (sadly, I missed the Chicks' performance)!:applause:
