LaraMN's great thread made me think of my drive home tonight...
Edited on Thu Feb-15-07 09:36 PM by fudge stripe cookays
I was driving from work out to our bedroom community east of Dallas. Much of this drive is along a 6 lane divided road with quite a few lights, but it's the most direct method.

I suddenly saw the guy in front of me moving around a lot toward the passenger side, almost violently. I couldn't figure out if he was reaching for something, fighting with someone, or having a seizure or something.

When we got to the next light, I realized he was road raging on the guy or girl in front of him. He suddenly rolled his window down, and starting thrusting out that middle finger for all he was worth, yelling, and jumping all over the front seat.

Then, he even opened his car door, and got out into his lane, and began heading over to the other guy's vehicle. He wimped out before he got there and got back in his car. During the next few yards, he veered his car violently toward the middle lane, also threatening the safety of the folks in that lane. Everyone in traffic was slack-jawed watching this asshole.

So I promptly pulled out my phone and called 911 to inform on his ass. He and his mark turned onto another main road (which coincidentally led them right past the police station), so I gave them a description of his car, and his licence number.

The best part was the bumper sticker. For Dallas folks, it was for KLTY. For the rest of you, he listens to the local "fundie rock" bullshit Christian station.

Real Christian, huh? :eyes: I SO hope the local yokels saw him coming and pulled his ass into a holding cell for an evening. Hypocritical fucker.

1. Good for you....
I hope the police got that idiot. And that he had an open beer in the car. Or is that still legal in Texas?

2. Nope, not legal.
Would have been nice if they busted him for that too!

4. I thought the law on that had changed.
It should have, but it amazed me that it was legal for so long a time.

I hate idiot drivers like that. Chicago is full of them. Not me, of course. Really! O8) When I give another driver the bird, they cannot see it.

5. I think every city has its own specific BRAND of bad drivers.
Chicago has the weavers and the "late on reds" because of all the unprotected lefts and increibly narrow residential streets.

Here, it's the 80 mph tailgaters. You learn to leave just the right amount of room between you and the person in front. If you leave too little, you'll hit them. If you leave too much, some other yutz will actually squeeze in!

:hi:

6. The people here who turn left when they do not have the right of way make me....

And if you hit them because they gave you no time, they'd probably go ballistic on you.

Grrrrrrrrrrr.

:hi:

On edit: My drive home from work requires that I drive six miles down a fairly busy and narrow street with one lane going each way. Unfortunately, there is no better alternative.

7. I learned that when I met some of the DUers awhile back...
that most of the city is that way!

I was always spoiled as a youngster because my aunt drove us everywhere. But trying to get to Moody's from the Westin O'Hare was rough. Especially with all those Santas on Harleys in my way!

8. Oh yeah, that route would have sucked.....
especially since the Kennedy Expressway goes nowhere near Moody's! I miss that neighborhood so much. But I couldn't afford it. And out here in the burbs, I have easy parking, which is good given the foot of snow on the ground.

The Santas on Harleys are kinda cool. I never went near Western Avenue on that day.

3. What a jerk!!!
I know I get road rage, but I can contain it. What is sad is that this guy by doing that and having that sticker just gave all those who believe Christians to be "fundies" and hypocrytical really good ammo to go on!

9. Yep, and don't think I won't be using that ammo!
I was chuckling as I watched, but I don't think it was quite as funny for the person in front of him.

That he would endanger so many lives is scary. Good for you for reporting him.

11. I never hesitate.
If I see someone driving like a jerk and it's safe for me to call (either at a light, or riding shotgun with reprehensor) I DO it. I could be saving someone's life, I hope.
